Good attempt You have almost mastered this blog thing ollie but I feel that you need a little advice.... The touristy stuff is good and all but thats been done man, I think you need to come in from a different angle, say for instance, those two young english girls... Lets hear some romance, I wanna see a mixed bag of emotions, I wanna take a ride on a rollercoaster of love and deception... Thats what the people want to read about these days, forget the old way. 'Brown paper packages tied up with string' is out, its the 'young lustful floozies and one night stand flings' that get all the views these days....
I know its late in your journey to be suggesting such drastic changes to your style but I figure better late than never...
PS, I know one or two other avid readers will strongly agree with me.... Right fellas?
after Salzburg?? Have been thinking about a great itinerary for you why not head to the sunny coast of southern France. Recommend that you use Interrail and travel to Florence then on to Nice. You could consider checking out Sienna, and maybe Cinque Terre on the way but it all depends on how much time you have (you can always return another time). Nice is great in early spring, especially the hillside gardens the beautiful pink hanging flowers draping over the view of the deep blue waters of the Mediterranean will stay in your memory forever. You can hire a bikes and cycle for hours along the promenade, through Cragnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubert, maybe even go as far as Antibes. Check the internet for some great hostels. There is one just out of Nice in the mountains overlooking the city cheap and relaxing with everything that you need. Maybe head further west along the coast after that and check out Provence. Anyhow, just some suggestions to think about - keep me posted if you decide on any of these possibilities
Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo I hate to have to say it, but very firmly feel, that Salzberg has got to you. Seems you need someone older and wiser to tell you what to do. Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes? Crisp apple streudels and schnitzel with noodles? Time to heave a sigh, say goodbye!
Enuf.. (.....well not really)
Hey Dulal, seem to recall reading about you a while back - something about a romantic close encounter on the back of a motor bike in Zanzibar and some serious hustling in Uganda???
Anyhow, with regards to the bikini clad nymphet - she moves around a lot.
At the time of writing she can now be found at the bottom of the blog comments or, according to my sources (primarily a couple of other watchers with similar interests who blog under the cover names of Julio & Garry), at ukrainedate.com. Cheers
Seems like good food spreads are following you all around europe. Did you ever find out what the circles and triangles meant? Should be easy to do it. If i find out I will let you (and maybe the other readers) know... See you soon!!!!!!!!!
Enuf about the blog entry.... Where's the blond babe with the blue bikini that MGD is referring to? All I can see is Oliver posing, Michal, Apple cake & a stronger, faster, harder, better E class (sorry C Class) Grey (sorry metallic silver) Mercedes - Where's the babe? What I miss?
In reply to Dads comment Hahahaha good one Dad, I'm suprised you remember your Polish so well but then I guess as the ancient Polish proverb explains:
"Kiedy nasienia uczenia si s posadzone (ustawiony), drzewo wiedzy ro[nie (uprawia; staje si) silny i |ycia (|yje; mieszka) na zawsze dobrze przykuwany do ziemii pamici (umysB). "
(roughly translated into english to say - "When the seeds of learning are planted, the tree of knowledge grows strong and lives forever, well rooted in the soil of the mind.") Probably not the best translation but then I'm only making use of the rudimentary Polish I was taught in grad school....
Kocham Ci!!! Ale nie mog sobie przypomnie dlaczego Good entry Ol, unbelievable (and possibly undeserved) kindness from Michael and his family who have been very kind to you
With regard to the triangles, am surprised that with your expensive university background and subsequent focus on all things French, that you did not pick up a most important clue from Victor Hugo’s immortal line “mankind is not a circle with a single center but an eclipse with two focal points of which facts are one and ideas the other”
This of course has been paraphrased into Polish, which I believe is usually (though my Polish is rusty and I may have missed some of the nuances) quoted as
“ Moj dup i twoj twr| to bli|niy”
BTW, couldn’t help but notice the blond babe in the blue bikini to the left of your blog (this sort of advert will certainly keep me tuned in to your travels through Eastern Europe!)
Anyhow, puts a new relevance to that other famous old Polish saying
"Czy je|eli ludo|erca je no|em i widelcem - to postp”
(Loosely translated - “A bottle of vodka, a bowl of Golabki, a C class 220 CDI sports and enough petrol to get to the Ukraine makes for a happy traveler”)
Done it again, Hey man,
Another fantastic installment. Poland sounds awesome man, especially the mini skirt waitresses.... (bet Dad will second that). Sounds like you had a really good time, your a lucky bloke to see all this.
Ps. I reckon that coat with the huge pockets would be helpful in the ol' 'papa antonios beer fridge' situation (if you know what I mean)
Quality Good work Ol, another crackerjack of an entry. I did quite enjoy the story about the man with the lazy eye.... that was until I started watching the comedy channel and this geezer doing standup starts off one of his crazy anecdotes with 'so there I was in the post office...' Nice try, but plagiarism is an offense that should be taken very seriously my friend.
But altogether a very enjoyable little story mate, made my morning. Keep up the good work.... Maybe visit Kevin?
Peace
Happy Anniversary Note that you have just reached your first anniversary of blogging on this site - Happy Birthday & thanks for keeping us updated, informed and entertained
#$% I was trying to think of a funny comment title - something to do with 'Snow Problem' being 'No Problem'....
Awesome blogs Ol, just caught up on the last 3! Top notch reading indeed! Glad to hear your still enjoying yourself buddy!
Longtime reader, first time commenter 30p for 1p - That's pure gold! I'm still treasuring that little bad boy.
By the way, a quick search of 'tasteful toilet humour' on google UK and you come up number 2.
Urgent Contact Required
Dear Mr Gee
I represent Attorneys at Law, Messer’s Persew, Sou & Scroo, of Frome, Somerset
We have recently been contacted by a number of aggravated and disgruntled parties (the Frome Agricultural Association, Mr George Ivan Morrison OBE, the Stonehenge Trust, the Royal Humane Society for Children [Warminster Division], Mr William Bryson & The Most Honourable Alexander Thynn Marquess of Bath) all of whom have expressed varying concerns at some of the views articulated in your recent Web Log or On Line Diary dated on or about 7th & 10th January 2009.
I would appreciate your contacting me as a matter of urgency to further discuss these matters (we would also request that in future, you please note the correct spelling of our historic town)
Frome glorious Frome, cold custard .......... I just realised that you've left out any mention of pubs with closed doors, real, glowing cider and heady pub-brewed beer................... How could you (or is it just a ploy to keep info from your devoted mother who would not want to know of your flirtations in the backstreets of Frome)!
Come back soon - I need an excuse to get out again.......
Strange Cafe Hey Oli! You forgot to put in the bit about the odd people in the The Square Cafe. Great bacon sandwiches but rather strange people - The rather large woman who only spoke to her child and husband in complete baby language and the old man singing along to the classical music on his ipod! We knew you were trying very hard not to laugh but we couldn't help but to break down into fits of sniggering. I will never let you forget that cafe! Never! Fin d:)
