Colca Canyon is one of the world's deepest canyons at 3191 metres. This morning an early 5.30am start, had breakfast and then headed on our way to Colca Canyon. We passed through traditional farming villages, fields of differing colours growing a variety of crops, and women on the sides of the roads selling their wares. We arrived at the canyon at 8.30am, and took a half hour walk along the canyon rim, offering great views, very beautiful and lots of wild flowers. We then saw some stunning Condors, sweeping, gliding and circling on the warm air currents in the sky. They had such elegance, with striking black and white colouring, an awe-inspiring species. They actually came in quite close proximity to our viewing point, and we even saw a few youngsters flying. We stood there watching
