What kind of boats?
What kinds of boats did you travel in for the longer rides? How large? How smooth a ride? Lots of pictures? (Like I have to ask . . . .)

Sweet Dreams
Rest up tonight Mindy. Do they have the Westin "heavenly bed" in Peru? That's my favorite bed and hotel chain in the US. Overseas, however, I detest chains and prefer local establishments. Bon nuit R

Fashion Show?
What types of clothing? Current (and what would that be?) or ancient?

Kids on the Switchback
Nope, no kids on the road up to Machu Pichhu. Guess they finally made them stop.

Hebrew letterS
Oddly enough, the first time I saw anything Hebrew was on the way to the hotel tonight. Have to ask Mauricio about it.

I've always wanted to go to Machu Picchu. It sounds amazing!

Judaica in Lima
Mindy--Have you seen any synagogues or Jewish history while in Peru?

Matrilineal?!?
Not only is matrilineal not a word I need to look up, but you gave it away in your next sentence. Is having pet guinea pigs in this area like pet chickens? If life gets difficult, you can always eat them. Did they see them more as pets or as cattle? Do llamas walk around freely like kangaroos in Australia? Sounds like a great trip!

Switchback children?
No mention of the kids on the switchback running down from corner to corner waving Goodbye? Or are they gone now?

Coca tea
Yeah, they've offered it at every hotel we´ve been at, but I've been avoiding it, it's not something I'm interested in.

Last Supper
Remember, the people who painted the Last Supper saw Christ in their own image, so no, wouldn't have thought about Kosher food. And all of the disciples were painted as white, except for Judas who was painted darker complected.

No Thai here
There doesn't seem to be much Thai food here, but there were Chinese restaurants on every street in Lima.

Light headed?
Did they offer you Mate de Coca when you arrived in Cusco? I remember them telling me to drink that to help with the altitude adjustment. My dad said it tasted like horse sweat, I thought it tasted like a melted tire. =)

Guinea pig meat?!?
I would think that those who ate the last supper kept kosher to a greater degree than that. What color skin did they have? Similar to the locals? I hope you enjoy Machu-Pichu as much as I like saying it!

Crazy chick!!!
Well I guess there is no need to ask how your days have been thus far since I don't think you forget to mention anything!! Anyhew, obviously what an experience for you...enjoy and keep those emails coming...it gives me something else to read on my long long train ride home every nite!! Anything tastes better than Thai as of yet..?...didn't think so 8-). Have fun chickie!

Did you know . . .
Guano manure is an effective fertilizer and gunpowder ingredient due to its high levels of phosphorus and nitrogen and also its lack of odor. I guessed the first part of this from the context, but I had no idea that it was an ingredient in gunpowder too. (By the way, Eliezer knew this one -- at least about the poo.)

Peru trip
Mindy sounds like you are having a good trip-would not necessarily take the 12 seat flight either-I have done that before and Millie (I) vomited after the flight landed from Alberqueque to Santa Fe

Who's your roommate?
Okay, maybe I'm a bit jealous, as I finish Religious School for today and prepare my sermon for Friday night services and get a good night sleep so that I can go to work tomorrow . . . .

Inca Cola
Mindy - you gotta get some Inca Cola when you visit the 24-hour grocery, that's a fond memory of my trip to Peru... then again, I was 15 at the time, so... =)
