Salut World!!!! (I have been in a quandary about what to do with this entry - i started writing it last weekend and stopped only to go and pick Ed up from the airport. Unfortunately my mindset has changed a bit since then, had a bit of a nasty surprise which i can't quite laugh about yet. I thought it better to post it now anyway and I will write a small, more current, entry soonish letting everyone know how i'm doing. When i feel more up to it. Especially as I promised myself that i would record my year as truthfully as possible. However we can't have two depressing entries in a row. Hope this makes you all laugh - send me love, need it at the minute.) Im sure you will all be glad ... read more

Good day to all fans, friends and followers. (Family is a given). I have been curiously quiet recently i know, however i would like to reassure all those who are envious of my summer in the south west of france that i (apart from on 2 very brief occasions) have not been lounging around the pool casually. In fact we have worse weather here than England! It has done nothing but rain for days. Also if the timeline seems a little off its because i've written this over 2 days and have only just got a chance to publish it. Nonetheless- last wednesday i went surfing despite torrential rain- you are already wet in the sea anyway so who cares really. Anyway i raised myself to my knees 6 times for lengthy periods of time but ... read more

Bonjour my lovers, It is Saturday, my day of repose, which means i am all alone (marie has gone home to Bordeaux) and i'm minorly bored. The weather is terrible so here i am again - about to regale you some of the latest embarassing episodes of my life. It always stuns me that theses things continually happen to me. I feel like Bridget Jones. Am currently wearing comfy clothes including some bizzarre brown/violet aladdin pants i purchased here and Ed's blue checked canada top. Just to give you all a mental image. So my afternoon job is starting to pick up a little. 16 kids the other day. And mostly its fine- i smile and nod a bit still with the littlies - but they don't seem to notice my lack of comprehension so i ... read more

Ok, so today i have been in France for 2 weeks. I have met 2 english people here - a couple from southend and there is also a fairly odd elderly dutch man with whom i attempt to converse in english. He is mostly understandable and it is his unfortunate propensity to whistle through his teeth when talking rather than his accent which makes our conversations awkward. Firstly i would like to reassure everyone who has been uninvited to my private blogs was that you have not offended me in any way - i simply have no intention of writing a private blog, if i'm that traumatised about something that i need to tell specific people i'm probably not gonna care about that fact that it'll cost me money to call. You can still access everything ... read more

Ok so i feel i should clarify a few things after 9 days in France. Firstly although the location of each blog (see above) keeps changing, rest assured i am in the same place. I just keep discovering more precisely where i am. Will try and put up some pictures soon. Well i have to take some first but can probably manage that. It just never seems the right time for a camera. Don't worry though guys - now that the ice is broken with the frenchies ill get snapping. What do i have to add? Oh ok. Here we go. 1) Lovers of Marmite, bring it with you - it doesn't exist here, well not that i could find in the Carrefour (supermarket). Not that that means very much, as it's layout left much to ... read more

It is so strange that I’ve been here over a week now without really being able to contact anyone or tell anyone I care about what is going on with me. It’s also weird to start at the beginning. But I shall try. I arrived with Fabien (I’ve already told you guys that he was the complete opposite of what I had imagined) but he spent most of the car journey (in which I was thankfully not sick) telling me about why he started up the animation/entertainment company. This is apparently because he is part of a band, composes, plays the guitar, dances and sings. I can’t do any of those things – small tendrils of panic started to unwind in my belly. Upon arrival the first thing I saw was my soon-to-be teammates putting up ... read more

My employer was young by the way - slim, olive skinned but the ,essy car was spot on. Aerobics and aquagym start at 10am tomorrow - really quite nervous. Just had lunch with the team - we discussed stereotypes - anyone think of any particularly french stuff? I said snails, baguettes, strikes and odd opening hours for shops etc. Any more for any more? Off to register all the kiddies for the children's entertainment club now - wish me luck xxxxx... read more

Ok, so this is the beginning of my great adventure. I fly at 6.45am tomorrow - which means 4am wake-up. All i have to say is ergh. I have spent the last few weeks in various phases of denial, sadness, excitement, apprehension and/or terror and now that my departure date is practically here - my overriding feeling is that everything was too abrupt. 4 days ago i was in Durham, carrying on as normal - even working the bar (a 14hr shift has never felt so long) and since then everything has passed in a flash. I barely remember packing - probably because my small army of helpers took care of most of that and my nan, mum, herm and annabel probably all deserve a mention for that. I love you all. The goodbyes were an ... read more
