Thanks for sharing. I am so excited to hear of your adventure(s). I can't believe that you para-glided even though you are a bit nervous with heights. WOW!
I am loving the pics as well. I have never been out of the USA and I am enjoying all the info and experiences you are having. Thanks for sharing!
Paragliding WOW! What a wonderful experience that must have been. Am so proud fo you for doing it in spite of being scared. It must have been wonderful. The view of the alps must have been wonderful. I am enjoying your blog so much. I sent the link to Uncle John and Aunt Cheryl...they said that they are enjoying your adventure. Hope that you don't mind.
Can't wait until another adventure.
Love Grandma Sharon
Paragliding Hi Meghan,
We were just reading your blog about paragliding and it sounds like you really had a wonderful experience. We are so glad that you were able to do it, and also to see a little more of the country. We especially enjoyed the pictures and the countryside we could see in the pictures from your birds eye view. Have fun! J,R.J.
Sounds like Fun! I love reading your blog, i just got caught up on everything. Sounds like an amazing time. I am so jealous of your trip plans, i am glad you are making the most of your experience! Also glad to hear the pigeons haven't entered your room! HAHA... i miss you, have tons of fun!!!!
hang gliding Hang gliding sounds great!! So quiet... The view should be really good too... Do all these scary and physically demanding things now while you can, you'll never, never, never forget them.
I'm soooo glad I went sky diving while I could (it might not be for you!), I think of that SILENCE and wonderful VIEW often...I'll not be able to do it now, so I'm glad I did it then, even if other folks think it's kindof "wierd".
That sounds like so much fun. Sadly, Milan, although high-fashion is not exactly the best tourist spot. I've heard there's some good architecture but it is also kind of a gross and smoggy city (most of the Italian cars are produced in/near Milan). Sorry I missed your call, I was at work and had my phone on silent. Next time you should e-mail me before you call so I can be prepared.
Swimming We sure did enjoy talking to you today. It was so clear and very little delay. We are so glad you were able to get it on your computer. It sounds like you are having a great time, and that is what we all wish for you. Let us know about your trips and include pictures if you can. That helps us know your experiences. Your job sounde exciting, and I have been looking at the ATLAS web site. What a great opportunity for you. Take care. J,R.J.,R.
Places to see I wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your blog. I know that it must be a lot of work but it is really appreciated. Are you close to the Alps? I'd want to take a trip up to the alps if I was there. The place I enjoyed when we were in Italy was Pompeii. f course we did not get to see Rome like Caitlin so I do not know much about it. I would think that a weekend in Paris would be wonderful
What a life ...to have chocolate to be the cheapest thing to eat...Eat some for me.
Your Grandmother Heimer was scared to death of birds....one time she tried to crawl under the car when some swallows dove at her. My uncle lived on an island in Lake Michigan and we were going to visit him but we had to send a short wave message to him to come and get us in his boat as it was the only way to get there. We went to a house to send the message and mom went up to the front door to talk to the people who would send the message. Evidentally the swallow had build a nest in the eaves to the porch and took after mother to protect her nest. Mom ran back to the car screaming and tried to get in and couldn't and so she crawled under the car. Poor MOM! Now she that she can't remember anything she likes to sit in front of the aivary at the rest home and watch the birds.
Keep sending the messages as they are interesting. I hope that you can get your pictures posted. They would be interesting.
How many other people are in your hostel? how many in your group?
Everything sounds like so much fun.
Having fun! I am so jealous! I have just sat down and read everything up to date. How exciting to be in Switzerland, eating choc and doing what you like to do. WOW!
Florence!!! As much as I loved Rome, if you only hit one Italian city it has to be Florence. Make sure you book tickets to see the David a couple weeks in advance so you can be sure to get in. There's another good museum there too with a lot of art you should also check out. We stayed at this awesome two star hotel we found on hostel world that was pretty cheap and had a free breakfast, so you should search that website. Arevederci gemella!
I will agree with you pigeon's are kinda scary, they arn't afraid of humans and they just keep flying, they won't try to avoid you! And they are dirty :) HAHA
you should definitely get skype. i use it all the time down here. its free to download, and you can talk for free if someone else has it, kind of like aim except you can talk and also use a webcam if you have one. and then its 2cents a minute to call land lines, which is way cheap! good luck!
Hey Meghan! Wow, we´re really far from eachother right now! I´m not even done with school yet, sad. But I will be in a week or so! Anyways, sounds awesome! And if the world ends, at least you survive! Is it also the law to carry around a swiss army knife? I have one down here and its come in handy quite a bit. Love ya!
Cern laboratories Chocolate? I knew there was a place in the world where one would be forced to eat chocolate for economic reasons. Eat up! Although I know I will not be able to understand anything you are doing, I think I read a book about this research facility. Can't remember the name? Anyway, I would like to put excerpts of your blog in the newsletter with your permission. Would that be ok? We want to live through your amazing experience. Enjoy every moment.
Warm regards,
lleanna
It turns out the hostel doesn't want us to keep food in our rooms, only in a shared refrigerator where other people might steal it. So, I'm going to buy hideable food.
Miss you Bonjour, Je m'appelle Julie. sooo i miss you already. Have fun. Remember 'where is' in French, Ou se trouve? droite (right) gauche (left) Ca Va? is how are you, and you can reply with Je suis (i am)....Ca Va (so-so), tres bien (very good) bien (good) mal (bad). L'eau (water), fromage (cheese), jambon (ham). if you want something you say Je voudrais (I want). (so if you are ordering something you could start with saying Je voudrais l'eau. :) good luck
Welcome to my travel blog! I'm headed to Switzerland to do research in experimental high energy particle physics at CERN, a laboratory located just outside of Geneva. I'll keep you posted as my travels continue.... full info
