Fantastic Choice Anne We really loved Nepal. Such a beautiful country and a very accessible size. Easy to see real extremes even within a short schedule. We wish we had had the time (and energy) to see some of the Annapurna circuit or to go to Pokara. But maybe another time on another trip . . . Enjoy your hols. Martine
I am thoroughly enjoying your journals and am taking notes for our trip to Nepal this coming year.Thank you for the entertaining stories and information. Great photos too.
rasquat love yuo and bloggi too You will be aware that we are all on the edge of our knickers back here because Sunday is the final two episodes of LOST! I know that you've seen it all and I want to use your blog to offically record that I am plumping for an 'aliens in the pod' theory. I had originally supposed an existential purgatory thing but I've moved on. Saw Del and Hazel in the town centre yesterday have sent special missive and musings about beards through them. Bye.
Dave we love you too. Even if you call yourself Rasquat and dis Steve's facial robe. We know you are there. Watching. Waiting. Yearning for S's return. Mx ps. my money is on either Max, Wolfgang(Wolfie for short) Leo, Gunther, or Egor.
What would we do without you Hels? Helen we love you. Your are without doubt our most regular blog reader, and bless you, you always make a comment. You may be the only reason we carry on, we feel listened too, you give us a forum and for that we will always be pathetically grateful. M x
Advice for Anna We can let you know about Long Beach which is where we stayed. We were at the Paradise Pearl bungalows which were 1500 baht a night, 2nd row back from beach (1700 if you want front row and seaview, but these do get the noise from longboats). These were fine. Clean and airy with AC. No TV (maybe a plus point for you?). Breakfast included. If you are looking for something cheaper, the first bungalows you come to on Long Beach were rumoured to be 500 baht a night - not sure what state they were in and would imagine this would just be fan. It is also worth checking out the other little bays between the main port area and Long Beach as these had some places too - sorry don't know price. Even if you do not stay at Long Beach it is definitely worth a visit. Pre Tsunami guidebook said it was very crowded but we found it far emptier than other beaches in the area, and peaceful too. Heavenly water and good for snorkelling. This was our first time in Phi Phi so cannot comment on changes but to our eye, the place was booming. Loads of restaurants, bars etc., catering to every tourist whim in main port area. One last thing, on our first night we stayed at Don Chuckhit bungalows on outskirts of Port area (towards direction of long beach). This usually costs 1800 baht (we got a one night only reduction cos of tsunami anniversary)but was no where no as good value as Princess Pearl. Depressing cardboard style chalet and dingy damp bathroom. Also the restaurant is not to be recommended though the seafood looks tempting when you walk by! HC Anderson in the port is a great restaurant and they do rooms too -I think from about 800 baht. Cosmic Pizzeria nearby is great too. Enjoy! Martine.
Help Hi Martine,
My boyfriend and I are about to head to Phi Phi. Can you recommend a nice (and cheap) bungalow to stay at? What is it like over there now after the effects of the tsunami?
Any advice appreciated.
Anna

Ode to a mountain beard One boy and then one girl,
halfway around the globe,
both stuck up a mountain,
one with a facial robe.
Severe cold and ill-health,
a winding dusty track,
That hairy face attracting,
its cousin mountain yak.
Beard The most interesting part of this long missive is the fact that Steve grew a beard. All those in favour of it please vote here. I'm very fond of it and want to see his hairy face on his return. You will be aware that I had a similar massage experience in Dehli (unrequested) and that my neck has clicked and cricked ever since. The doctor said not to worry and that it makes a good party trick - perhaps we can now form a double act.
ankor rasquat many great times I rasquat hjas had in this place with y ou amd STEvie [pleas e to come again for that special buttskiss - see you in Chinae
Doggie don't Hello Paris
thanks for your comments! as for the photos, have you tried the 'Mihov Image Resizer'? it's the free download under 'Manage Photos'. With this you can reduce the size of the images for a faster upload. We've had some slow connections on our travels so far but this little app makes is manageable.
Had a look at your Yunnan entry - we'll be in China in the new year. Rather hoping to avoid the dog dishes however...
Very funny Your blog had us cracking up as well as everyone looking over our shoulders at the internet cafe.
How long does it take you to download your photos? Two-three minutes per photo for us in China. Blogger paris yaffe's mom
I am 30 years old and currently enjoying an indecently long honeymoon (6 months) with my lovely new husband, Steve. I work for a charity in London who have been amazing in giving me the time off to pursue this adventure. We are visiting India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, China, New Zealand and Australia, returning home in April 2006.
