Not Eye Balls I hope you know those glutinous white things are not really eye balls...It's a traditional Chinese "dessert" served on the last day of the Chinese New Year (a special festival) that symbolizes the solidity and togetherness of the family. Tastes pretty good.
Eye-Balls I hope everyone knows that those are not really eye balls...It is a traditional Chinese "dessert" (sweet, can be eaten either in the morning or after dinner on the last day of the Chinese new year - the 15th day).
The cost of convenience Yes, I can testify to the above. In Vietnam every time Ann required a convenience either (a) a small, wizened Vietnamese lady appeared from nowhere or (b) a veritable gaggle of Vietnamese ladies descended upon me, demanding I buy some piece of local tat as payment for Ann using their toilet. In one particularly sophisticated ambush, (a) and (b) followed in rapid sequence. This proved to one of our major daily outlays during the holiday.
so there's a blog is there?!! i'm always the last to know! lookin gorgeous all over - you two and the world! kisses all round (plus one for helen lord)!
You found it! Sad but, that starbucks in the forbidden city came as such a welcome relief for me when there...oh to have a half decent coffee in china!
poo poo You'll be a stronger person for having survived those toilets! Am impressed that you didn't have to pay - Greg always complains that this is the most expensive part of any holiday with me! Will email you Mum and Dad's top NZ tips. Have fun xx
bummer i like your bottom stories. Why aren't there any photos of the bottoms on your blog?!
If the world is a book then i have seen 1 chapter.
have a great time in NZ - only down the road from the south pole
xx
Loving your work guys! I particularly like the fact that Old Men have to be accompanied by their parents!! I can't believe you're actually there on the wall. It's such an iconic image, and to see you two standing on it is somewhat surreal! Goes without saying that I'm v.jealous, but given my huge bulk these days, I'd probably topple over the side. Six weeks to go (and counting!!). Much love. xxxxxxx
Whale of a time Hey Hels. Yes we heard. Very sad it died. It was covered on the news in Hong Kong. I heard one quote, mother talking to her child, 'No darling, not it's Ipod, it's lost it's pod - it's friends and family' which I though was very sweet and a little alarming all at once.
Ann it is you! Derrrr! I have just realised that it was not some random stranger insulting us, but a dear friend. I am trying to think of that sitcom that had a married couple as comedy side characters that always wore matching jumpers and hats, but my brain is failing me. Well that is us, especially now because it is soooooooo cold so we are wearing matching coats, scarves and hats!
Steve ate his eyeballs too! He has got more in common with Jordan than you first imagine! I wimped out on that particular dish though, I have to own up. Some things are just too much. Made me long for beans on toast. Happy Birthday for the 8th Jo. M x
Hello to all yous! Hey Darren, yup the guitar has survived although finding decent strings has been a bit of an ordeal for Steve. It has taken a few bashes. We are at a hostel at the moment that has the life aquatic on DVD so we may be able to finally follow your recommendation. M x
better the devil you know better the deep fried carcus you know... I agree! i was so pleased to see a Mcdonalds in Delhi though unfortunately it was shut. Have fun looking at more ambrosial designs
big love
xx
eats shoots and leaves how much did you pay that red panda to sit on your lap Martine?
Larvae steve? what's wrong with that? they'll turn into butterflies in your stomach.
i don't want fish... YES YOU DO STEVE YES YOU DO! what amazing photos (of your scarves...i mean the river, golly it makes the thames look rather bland though we did have a whale in it this month if you hadn't heard.)
eye-balls! the local cuisine you endured in chengdu reminded me of a bush-tucker trial on i'm a celebrity get me out of here!!!!!! especially the eye-balls!!! but jordan did eat hers!
I know you're married and all that but matching scarves... don't let it become matching jumpers or raincoats! It looks stunning (China that is, have moved on from scarves) - happy new year - as it's the year of the dog I think we can safely assume it will be an auspicious time for all.
I am 30 years old and currently enjoying an indecently long honeymoon (6 months) with my lovely new husband, Steve. I work for a charity in London who have been amazing in giving me the time off to pursue this adventure. We are visiting India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, China, New Zealand and Australia, returning home in April 2006.
