foreshadowing understood hey Mark, I'm sorry that your skin got dominated by the sun. It seems that gumbolingo didn't take kindly to your abuses. The video link to your jump was broken, so you've gotta repost it! Sounded fun, especially the snorkeling. I wouldn't want to take any of those 9 hour long bumpy shuttles. Can't wait to see you back home, Joe
=) Mark and Sara, nice section here. I'm sorry you lost your original entry mark. What happened to the gringo tree and the sunburns that you were foreshadowing? Belize sounds pretty different that Guatemala. Also, you can use american dollars and cambodian reils mixed and everyone does it in cambodia; it was so weird!
excellent Mark and Sara,
Keep your spirits up! Don't let the scoundrels get to you! Continue having a wonderful time and keep on writing because it's amazing to read!
You know when it is time to leave... Apart from showing lack of respect for a culture, tourists and travellers who congregate to form foreign enclaves in a destination is the most infuriating aspect of the travel industry. Travel should be about experiencing foreign cultures and not trying to replicate one's own in another country.
Im a guatemalan living in Houston. Ironically we hispanics left our little towns . I grew up in Panajachel. To come to the States, looking for the big cities, hungries to work and make money, and you guy looking for little towns that be so laid back. I think yours position is great in a way. As you were saying I hardly speak any english during the week. The best way for me to practice it, is with gringos living in Guatemala. Isn\'t it so ironic . Its unperfect and surreal .
keep it up Mark and sara-- wow. I am really jealous of y'all despite everything. Sorry so hear that the hippies won't look your way, but screw them then. Can't wait to hear more stories. Keep it up and have fun! Love from Vermont, Joe
awesome! Mark and Sara! It sounds like you guys have settled in pretty nicely! And you do get the beat of travelling. I always allow myself yo get ripped off a few times in a new country before I figure out the prices and the culture. Really happy to read this. Keep up the fun! Love, joe
Waterfalls Great photo of the restored house in Kuelap that our team did.
You missed the highest waterfall just discovered in 2007, the Yumbilla waterfall @ 895 meters high compared with Gocta at 771m. It is accessed by a new Inca style path for 15 km that passes many waterfalls, 4 higher that any of the continental USA. This eco-trek is still being finished up by volunteers, (more welcome). The trek is being built on a narrow cliff ledge in a pristine amazon forest, with 5 exotic endangered species. Its location is just above Pedro Ruiz, 2 hours from Chachapoyas. Wish you had seen it!
its not neem Its banyan tree.. fig tree family.... Its the Nationl Tree of india....
Good to see your comments and photos... I am an Indian and I live in souther india... which is famous for temples
Indians love the white skin - response Indians love white skin but they also look for goodness in a person. If you have a bad behaviour they might not accept you at all. I don't think they have pulled you across, may be they were eager to take a pic coz you were friendly to them. The thing about india is irrespective what race, caste, religion people are from, despite the fact that three points are often discussed, at the bottom they look for behaviour/manners/goodness/dharma from a person.
you're crazy looking wow! this looks like so so so much fun. and in that last picture you look like a crazy homeless man. i would officially be scared of you on the street if i didn't know you are such a cuddly little boy... er, man. yay sounds like so much fun but i cant wait to talk to you when you come home, which is soon now.

surfer dude markus, this sounds great and i love the surfer picture. maybe the market wasnt as great as is could have been because it was off season? did you ever sleep in a hammock overnight (they really make my back hurt anyway). cant wait to see you, and you had better not cut off that beard until i see you. but i think that you probably will...
Mazel Tov!!! Hi Mark and Sara - Wow - What a surprise. Steve and I wish both of you all the best and can't wait to dance at your wedding :) Roberta & Steve
The little cat is an Ocelot, and the big rodent is a capybara. Not sure about the first mystery guy, and the lazy lookin one with the ringed tail might be a tree kangaroo, but it's driving me crazy because I know I've seen one before at some strange zoo/rare animal shop in new jersey.
