Congratulations Dear Monica and Madeleine,
We thought of you often as we continued our camino journey and wondered how you made out after we saw you last in Zubiri. We are so happy to read via your blog of your adventure and to know that you finished. We know you were concerned you might have to end your journey early and we are so happy for you that you were able to continue and finish. We finished on May 23 and can honestly say this was a tremendous life experience made even better by all the wonderful people we met along the way. All the best to you both.
Camino It's great to hear from you! So glad you had such a good experience. We found the way wonderfully enriching. The places and the people combined to provide a very positive and inspiring experience for us as well. Unfortunately, Madeleine is still suffering the aftermath of the septic toes! The focus of the infection never quite cleared and she's still being treated with strong penicillin. It all feels like a bit like a dream as normal routine kicks back in, but we're both determined to do some more of the camino in the future.
Best wishes to you both
Madeleine and Monica
Congratulations! What a wonderful way to arrive, with the dawn! All your aches and pains will surely have faded into distant memory(at least I hope for your sakes). That meal of langoustines sounds almost like a heavenly celebration before the event but it was evidently well deserved. Enjoy the rest of your stay and the opportunity to hear beautiful music and other aesthetic and spiritual(in both senses) refreshment. Lots of love to both of you, Helena x
The Finale I am sure you are in Santiago by now!!!!!
Congratulations, Fantastic and well done. You have both (and Pat) done it. Have followed all your steps, even the painful ones!!! Look forward to seeing you soon. Lots and lots of Love xxxx
You have almost made it Enjoy the last of it and have a good rest when you get to the end... Broke up Yesterday... so feeling wacked but good to day....
Lots of love..... mx
Nearly there! I can't believe that you are nearly there! You're all doing brilliantly, especially battling through with all the illness and troubles along the way. I understand what you mean about becoming very attached to your rucksack, it's a very strange feeling when you haven't got it. It'll be amazing when you're home and don't have to carry around all your belongings on your back, and you'll never want to see a rucksack again! Hopefully you won't lose any more toenails before the end! Keep going, and enjoy all those wine stops! xxx
Greetings Super Walkers Hello both, I'm loving the blog and the pictures. Hope the blisters and sore toes are healing and the pain easing.
hugs and smiles Linda
Go Madeleine and Monika! I am following you (and Madeleine's feet) daily as you do your mammoth trek! Did you remember to pack your evening dress Madeleine?
Sounds as though you are meeting some interesting people along the way. Keep smiling and don't forget the sun tan lotion. You are my heroes (well, heroines then). Lots of love to you both, A xx
Burgos Glad to hear that you have reached Burgos; hope the Falangists don't getcha! Lots of love to both of you and I hope Maddie's feet continue to heal (I nearly wrote 'heel'). Don't let Monnie bully you into walking faster, Mads. Just take it at a comfortable pace.
Any advice about the Camino Walk Sounds like y'all are enjoying your walk besides the rain. My friend and I are walking the Camino in August through September. Are the Albergue's clean? It sounds like the showers are co-ed. Kinda creepy to me. I, also, plan on carrying very little clothes (100% quick dry material) and hope to wash and rinse each night to help lighten my load. Any advice is appreciated! Enjoy your walk- best wishes!
Hello Hope all is well you seem to have gone quiet for a few days but then again perhaps i haven't quite got the hand of this.Still recovering from wiener schnitzel attack, going to John Cale tomorrow and then some more practice for my reduced 5 mile leg of the marathon. You'll be on Palencia by now or maybe even Leon ,somewhere near Mansilla de Las Mulas. Hope the feet are bearing up.Funny looking back i seemed to remember drinking very little wine until i looked in the journal, the mind plays funny tricks and wine is medicinal any way Love to you both Rowan
Lovely to read your travel updates. You're both doing brilliantly and sounds like you are making the most of all the wine on your way! It's making me wish I was back travelling or doing some kind of adventure with Phil along side me. I'm sure she's walking with you both though, and tutting when you miss the turnings! Hope your feet aren't suffering too much and the blisters have gone now. Great to see pictures of you both too. Hope you're having a lovely time and battling through the sore feet. Everyone is thinking of you here. Much love xxx
Hi Monica & Madeleine Just negotiated travelblog so I can keep up with your progress. Sounds wonderful, despite blisters and rain. Can't wait for the movie!
Pilgrims indeed Great news. The route sound inspiring but we agree with the hotel stops; you need to keep well. The food and wine sound excellent. Wish we were with you. We are in spirit! Much love A & A
Hope the blisters are not too bad! Hello Madeleine & Monica
It's lovely to read your news - it all sounds fascinating and seems that you are travelling through some beautiful countryside and meeting up with some lovely people.
We do hope that the blisters aren't too bad and that your new sandals continue to be comfortable.
Take care.
Lots of love Janet & Tony xxxx

Still got mum in hospital but she is progressing......
Enjoying your blogs so keep them coming... Love to you both !!!!!
Dear Pampered of Pamplona Very sorry to learn of the blister. It seems as if brandy, booze, bonhomie, bathing and feather-bedding is proving the very best of cures, and that you are in sound company and good cheer. Is it fair to ask if it is uphill or downhill all the way from now on?! Keep On Kilometering On. Love, Alison xx
Following you.. Sounds like you are both having a good experience..(Hi Monica)... Still on my own daily pilgramage to hospital and Dad..Mum much brighter, but there's never a brother around when you need one... Phil and James have been wonderful....
