So here it is, the last entry unless I can be bothered to finish off when I finally come home. Right now I'm all on my lonesome, Mrs Moss abandoned me last week for 2 weeks, in exchange for spending 2 hours in the company of Robbie Williams and Take That. I wasn't wondering but in case I was, I know clearly where I lie in the pecking order. So here I am, all alone and not even with my other lady here for company (the Lambretta is in the garage having a service before its long trip). No doubt Lucy is being showered in love and affection whilst I'm still here trying to sell some shoes to Next. It was a moist eyed farewell at the airport that brought down the official end to the ... read more

Hello blog fans, yes, this is probably the penultimate blog entry as our adventure is fast approaching its close. In one month from today, Lucy will be on her way back home, followed by me 2 weeks later. It's a strange feeling for me really, in one sense we're very much looking forward to coming back and seeing everyone, another part of me will be very sad to leave this lovely country and lots of good friends. Anyhow, it's a while since the last entry and a lot has happened..... Mum and Roy were our first visitors out in Bangkok and they bookended our Asian trip by coming to Vietnam a few weeks ago. It was very nice to see them even though the time seemed to go very quickly. They soon got into the swing ... read more

...is the motto for our last couple of months here. And indeed we are trying our best to do things and see people as much as we can. Homesickness and sadness about leaving come and go and do affect us despite the obscene amount of jolly jaunts that we go on. Please know that we do realise how lucky we have been! So lets start by telling the slightly amusing tale of a Vietnamese wedding that we attended. Two important shoe factory people invited us to join them at their well-to-do evening do and with great intrigue and excitement, we went along. If you looked in from above you would think that it looked very similar to a lot of English weddings, the round tables, flowers, candles, fancy chairs, smart people... However, at close range oh ... read more

Hello All, Sunday night here, just reclining in front of the telly and awaiting the Stoke game to come on, to hopefully see them get a beating. (Chris here by the way in case you were wondering)(Lucy here too editing on Tuesday night - well he jinxed that match good and proper to a cough - 0 win though, oops moving swiftly on!). Loads to tell you about this time, it's been an eventful month and there's 50 odd photos to tell all sorts of bits and pieces, so scroll through.... Over the couple of weeks we have been incredibly fortunate to be able to compare 4 SE Asian Cities, both modern and ancient. We got back recently from our latest little holiday. The schools went back on Monday after the 'easter' break and last week ... read more

Hello blog fans, It's Mr Cwiss here. Mrs Cwiss is away on a girly weekend to Phu Quoc island today (sat'dy) and no doubt basking on the beach right now, leaving me home alone. I've been riding the scooter around this morning and had to pop into work - which I should mention, as the last few weeks might seem like we're just travelling and not working out here! Weekdays are still very busy for me - average day is 8am to 6.30pm for me, sometimes longer but we've been making up for it at the weekends lately.... Last weekend we went to Singapore after work - it's true, it is very clean and chewing gum is indeed illegal. It is also eye-wateringly expensive - at least a fiver for a beer, which is a shock ... read more

Morning all, I hope you're all well. You might want to join me with a cuppa - it's set to be long un' I'm afraid! I'm currently sat in bed this Saturday morning with a cup of tea and a hangover watching Star World (crappy US girls TV channel), Take That album playing from the living room and the washing already in the washer. Yes, that 's right, it's Mr Cwiss here. Naaaah not really, he's off on a boys motorbiking holiday with a couple of mates. So indeed, while the cat's away... one must make like Carrie Bradshaw and enjoy a short return to the life of a (not at all) single (or) girl! Last night was a one off, one of those nights you think - 'Am I really doing this?!' I was invited ... read more

Tet, tet, tet, tet, tet is coming... well actually it's been and gone now but anyway, I won't let that ruin a good title so Chuc Mung Nam Moi all the same (Happy New Year!) It's the year of the cat now (I know - it's the year of the rabbit everywhere else, but in Vietnam it's different) and apparently it's a very lucky year if you are a goat(/sheep). Of which I (Lucy) am... excellent. It's also now 12 months and 7 days since we've been in Asia - time flies eh? So what has January 2011 had in store for us? Hmm let me think.... Actually, we have been pulling our belts in (well trying to) just like the rest of the you. We have been trying to be good and cook at home ... read more

Happy New Year to One and All! Well, it's been a long time since the last update and my golly gosh a lot has happened. It's set to be the longest blog entry ever, so get yourself a cuppa and myself and the Mrs will take turns to update you on the last month's shenanigans..... Hoi An We went to Hoi An for Lucy's birthday (and an excuse for another holiday). It's a little old town that has got a bit too touristy but it's still very, very pretty. It's famed for it's tailor shops (there's literally hundreds of them), and so, when in Rome and all that. We both picked up a made to measure coat each. We had thought they would be suitable for English winters but following the road test just before Christmas, ... read more

Hi folks, Hope you're all doing well and have got your thermal undies on! It's been a bit chilly over here too, Saturday actually dipped to 27 degrees. Our rains not stopped quite yet though, but it's getting less and lighter so it can't be long now... except that we've been saying that for a month already. It seems global warming might be doing strange things to the seasons over here as well! So what's new? Well this month (actually last month) was all about visitors. We had a holiday at home with the parents and some of our own Nottingham folk made it over as well. When I say holiday - we were still going to work in the day but just enjoying going out every night with great food and company. It gave us ... read more

Hello All, Hope everyone's well, all good here. Just a quick one today, it's sunday again and I'm watching the grand prix, lucy's reading in the other room. Since our last blog, we've been to Hanoi for the weekend. We were supposed to spend a day with my Dad and Lynda who are now en-route to Saigon (arriving tomorrow morning!), but their flight was delayed and they missed their connection in Hong Kong. All of which meant that in the end, we only had 3 hours with them but it was a very nice 3 hours spent introducing them to Vietnamese cuisine at a very nice restaurant. Hanoi's a lovely place, crazy traffic even compared to Saigon. We did all the sights in the city and spent some nice time wandering through the back streets of ... read more
