need more info - lol! Sitting here, at a very large table, with a lovely glass of wine ... we are here with your son and daughter in law ... we're all wondering why the cake was lol, why have you still not been kidnapped ... and why we have run out of wine, when you're not here drinking it for us? (Ru tells us we haven't actually run out, and I'm exagerating but we've run out of the cooking wine ... lol!)
Glad you're having fun, hope you have made copious notes about what wine we should be drinking. Samples required next month!
Penguins? Hi Lizzie-P. good to hear your news, it all sounds very exciting from my little house. Hope you find your penguins, I assume we are talking birds here and not chocolate bars?
John
Ushuaia Hey you've now got further south than we did, the runway at Ushuaia airport. We've just got back from a 10 day trek in the Torres del Paine - fantastic, hard work and unbelievably photogenic. Thought BA was great, visited some of the same museums/places as you. We wish we'd been able to see more of Chile.
Hi Lizzie-P
Good to hear from you as always. It all sounds wonderful, as you say like looking at the school Atlas all those years ago. You are bringing it all to life. John
membrillo Hi Ruth, I have just found yourmessage - I am sitting in a cafe in the most southern town in the world eating - wait for it, membrillo and dulce de leche mille feuille tart. SSOO yummy and the scenery is incredible too! Will need to work off the extra layers of membrillo on my return, lots of ideas for making thngs with it!
See you in March!
membrillo You didn't need to go all the way there for membrillo. I made some with the quinces that you gave me. Fantastic with cheese, esp manchego. Your trip sounds fantastic. Missing you at class. Enjoy the rest of your travels. Ruth
Jealous! Hi! Sounds like you're having a great time. Sorry I didn't get to see you before you left. Audrey and Sally say a big hello. Geoff McKenzie is in tomorrow. I will tell him about all your crazy goings on! Keep causing havoc - and having fun!
Eleven Dollars? Well, I don't blame you for walking out - what a cheek! And we thought the Nat Trust was expensive!
Good luck with not scratching your bites, you might have to wear socks in bed to stop yourself doing it in your sleep (DAMHIKT!).
Glad you're having fun though.
Welshcakes Sorry you were disappointed with your Welshcakes...........but I am envious of your trip to Patagonia. My son went there a couple of years ago, and he thought it was the most amazing experience.
Take care, .......and you're welcome to Mum's recipe if you want to leave one there...........but I'm sure you would have thought of doing that already.
Love, Anne X
machines... It is working! We are down in Puerto Madryn now. The clue to the non working notebook was an engineer sorting out the router as we left. It sems tht saying things are not working is not done!!
electronics Hah - glad you are concerned, the blooming thing was working at home. However, I can save lots of blog entries on it!! As for the kidnapping, we are leaving the wildlife now, so your bargaining skills should not be needed till we return to BA.
Punctuation? Half way across the world, and you're worried about a few lost apostrophes?
just remember to take note of a landmark that is higher than you, and you'll be OK!
Have fun
politics and electronics Still not kidnapped then mum.....
Good to see you are having an interesting trip so far. I love the fact that you are concerned that the authorities may be reading your blog and might make you disappear for saying how terrible the plight of the "mothers of the missing" is...never let real life get in the way of a good conspiracy theory!!
You may be wondering why the title of the post is "politics and electronics"....well the politics bit (or I should probably say poitics) is clear from the last paragraph; but the electronics bit has made me laugh out loud reading your blog. I think that almost my last question to you before you departed was whether you expected to get your computer working on this trip or whether it would just be ballast in the rucksack while you sought out internet cafes.......given that your own keyboard probably hasnt changed I assume the latter to be the case :-)
Keep up the good work on your postings...I can feel the culture flowing around me as I read them. Glad the tent usage and proper traveling are about to commence...Enjoy!
Welshcakes are good!! Hi Lizzie-P Nothing ridiculous about being so excited about what is before you. From the limits of my little house it all sounds wonderful. Had welshcakes in St Davids but welshcakes in Patagonia really is something else. Looking forward to hearing more...... John
Hi there, pleased you have arrived safely, although def don't admire you for the journey you seem to have had. Thats put me off the idea of a long haul flight anytime soon. Have fun xxx
