Forgot.. No building plot here - I wonder if my corner stones are still there lol? There are loads of strange hills, and somewhere I have photos of suitable picnic places!
Sign post Yes! There was a five way sign post, slightly superior as it had arms on it to name the directions. So funny! I wonder if every desert has an obligatory post in the middle of nowhere? You would love it out there, plenty of opportunities to off road and they are even copying the rills for their irrigation systems. The Bolivians are lovely people too. I had a great time.
Copacabana Did you meet Lola at Copacabana? Ha! Ha! I could not help myself! Your Spanish must be better than you think if you had a conversation with a family! Wonderful!
Have fun! Please keep me on your blog list. Hope you had a great Christmas and hope you have a fantastic trip! Very envious, but don't worry about us back here in the cold. Seriously, have fun and take care.
safe journey Have enjoyed your blog. What a marvellous bag of adventures. Got the post card - thanks!! I remembered about you wearing a cape in Capetown and eating pizza in Pisa so wondered what you decided to do in Cape Horn - the mind boggles............ Hope you will come over to Leicester very soon when you are home. Oh yes - there are revolutions going on all over the place!!
Intrigued at the Mortimer connection in SA!!! Knew he was good on horseback it must have been an efficient swimmer!
Looking forward to hearing first hand of your adventures.
Take care,
Fran
cheese As far as cheese is concerned I am down to begging - although I found a shop with local cheeses today - which was shut..... tears came to my eyes!
2CV ecoms 3CV! I had a wonderful converstion with an Argentinian yesterday - in Spanglish of course, they (The cars) are made in Argentina and are now 3CVs, with moderations to the boot door and a cow chaser thing on the front - now that is stylish! I wonder if they can be imported to the UK? How many cows do you reckon would get in the way of a 3CV i the UK? LOL! I suppose the engine is more powerful too....
2cv Liz,
We almost certainly saw your Calafate 2cv, struggling along a dirt road from The Torres del Paine towards Calafate. It was driving along on the wrong side of the road, just off the main highway, it eventually managed to climb the loose banking and get on to the main carriageway on the correct side of the road where it eventually became a blip on the horizon as our bus headed towards Calafate considerably faster than the 2cv. We don't imagine there are many such cars in Patagonia, so another coincidence for you.
Fitzroy sounds wonderful, though we found peaks like the one you describe in the Torres, highly photogenic and just fascinating.
Glaciers are go!
