Day 3- Today we had a quick breakfast and hit the trails at Crater Lake National Park. Our plan was to hike up to Garfield Peak where you can see most of the lake and take some awesome pictures. We only got to hike 1.25 of the 1.7 trail because of pressing time to check out. We still got some amazing views of the lake and some good pictures. The hike was very tiring so we took a refreshing shower when we got back and then explored the visitor center and the museum. They were very interesting. We learned a lot on the formation of the lake. It was once several volcanoes that formed into one after thousands of years, called Mt. Mazama. Day 1- Today was a really long day. We planned to leave our town of Los Altos, California at 8:30 am but our really departure time was 9:45. So much for leaving early. The drive was shockingly beautiful. We drove through several national forests along the coast and even stopped at the beach for a while. It was really foggy but the effect that it had on the trees was amazing. It was very pretty and hot as we drove through a lot of towns finally making it to Cave Junction, Oregon. We stopped at Subway for dinner nothing like a refreshing foot long. Then after another thirty minute drive we reached Oregon Caves National Monument. It took us 8 hours to get here. The lodge where we stayed at was the Chateau at Oregon Caves. ... read more
