Live Like Youre Living

The important stuff:
I love hot sauce. I love baking (especially bread). I make huge messes in the kitchen. I love making those messes; cleaning up isn't as much fun, though. Meeting new people is great- everyone has a story to tell, and I'm completely fascinated. Getting lost is a favorite past-time. If I have a day off, I'll hop in the car and explore roads I've never been down- destination unknown is exciting.

Obviously, I love to travel. My parents took us (my brother and I) to quite a few places around the country growing up, and now I'm breaking out myself. Being young and on my own, my budget is limited, but I'm doing all I can despite that. It bothers me when I tell people I'm going on a trip and their response is "I wish I could do that!" I firmly believe that you can. If I can do it, anyone can. You just have to do it.

I'm just starting out with this travel-thing. It's something I've always wanted to do, and there's no better time to venture out than now! Miami was my first solo trip a few weeks ago, and San Francisco is already booked as my next. My travels are nothing extravagant for now, but I'm doing all I can afford to and loving it!

The details:
I'm 22. I recently bought a small house (that I love). It overlooks one of the Finger Lakes, and waking up to that view each morning always makes me smile (don't be fooled- it was a foreclosure for super cheap- I was very lucky!). It's also near family, which has been great.

I'm almost a college grad- one more internship to get through! I started out with a major in Journalism and French, but switched to Recreation and Leisure Management when I realized how much I love working with people. It seems like a great fit so far. We'll see what graduation brings...!

For me, there is no 'in the meantime,' there is now (ok, maybe sometimes I do wish the workday away, but I TRY to live in the moment- sometimes it's a lot easier said that done), and I'm trying to do all I can...

I suppose as this is my first entry, I'll start at the beginning; I'm a twenty-two year old who is recently (ish) single, nearly a college graduate (one more internship!), new-found homeowner, loving mother to two cats, full-time (sometimes way over full-time) employee with a crazy itch to travel. I want to see everything and experience what new places and people have to offer. Feeling tired of constantly telling people of all the traveling I would someday do, I booked a spur-of-the-moment solo trip to Miami about a week before I was scheduled to to fly out. It marked what I hope is the first of many adventures to come. Ok, I realize you may be rolling your eyes and thinking "Big deal, it's just Miami," but I'm hoping you're more of my my mindset, being ... read more
