I do like your travel style!!! You are lucky one of the legs of your epic journey wasn't cancelled, throwing everything off. I'm looking forward to your blogs.
Thanks, Bob! I'm working on the rest of the blogs this week. Yes, we were lucky none of those legs were delayed. Sounds like you had quite the journey back and forth to Europe last month!
Chang The other side effects of Chang that you missed are the Chang-mares or Chang-dreams...they are really, really weird! We have often wondered what exactly it is in Chang that has all those effects and we have decided to steer clear of it in favour of Leo beer instead! We just can't be doing with those sorts of hangovers ;)
Great account of living in Tokyo I love your writing style, it really kept me reading the whole time. And i absolutely felt like I was living your day to day experience, even the earthquake. Sounds like you guys handled it like most of us would! Id love to visit Tokyo some day :)
spring I love how you describe it. Reminds me of a ballet where the dancers take turns in showing their routine one after the other. Beautifully written
We visited Keukenhof every spring we lived in Belgium... so beautiful! Thanks for letting us know about your finish in Leiden, your return to Bangkok to see friends, and now you month is Japan. Even when you get back to Seattle and finish your Masters, please keep your TB family informed through your blogs.
Bungalow in Koh Tao? Hello over there!
I am planning to go to Koh Tao in August and I am desperately looking for a nice place to stay, but somehow the internet doesn't help much. I looked at your pictures and read your blog entry and it seems, you had found a good place to stay at. Can you give me any contact details or something like that? Or do you maybe even have other recommendations on where to stay in Koh Tao?
That would be really helpful!
Thanks in advance
Hanka
Hi there! Hope I didn't catch you too late. I would recommend heading north of the pier to a beach called Sairee. I've stayed in three different bungalows all very near a Thai restaurant called the Coffee Boat (excellent food - eat there). Sorry I can't recall all the names but I found those to be the best prices. I believe one was called Sairee Cottages. I think last time we paid 500 baht for a bungalow with an en suit bathroom and a fan. Best of luck and enjoy Koh Tao!
We only spent 24 hours in Tokyo in 2007... and it is a "must return" destination. A month there must be heaven! I loved your pictures of all the things that make Japan unique. The next time you visit the Imperial Gardens you have to get a picture of the sign regarding homeless people using the park...very politely Japanese. I assume that you are just there between semesters and will be returning to Bangkok.
Oh ok, I'll look for the sign in the Imperial Garden! It's so pretty there. Yes, we'll be back in Bangkok at the end of July and back to school in August. I already miss the warmth, the people and the amazing food in Thailand!
