Working @ Club Med
Welcome,
I am writing this Blog during the time which I am working for Club Med ( CM ) as a G.O ( G.O = Gentils Organisateurs ).
For the better understanding of the actual job as a G.O and background info's about what CM actually is, how the system works, etc.. I decided to post some information below. For detailed information about Club Med you can visit www.clubmed.com
My 1st season for CM started in Chamonix, France (Winter 2005 ) followed by my 2nd season in Sant Ambroggio, France (Summer 2006).
The duration of a season is 4-5 month - depending on the village ( a CM resorts is called "village" ) you are based.
If you work 2 seasons behind each other you will have have a couple of weeks "off" between the season switch. This time is mostly used to buy new clothes and see friends and family.
I work as a G.O at the Bar. Every evening is "Stage Time" where you perform on stage with other G.O's several acts ( singing, musical, comedy, etc )
Your working schedule is fixed but you can have "breaks" inbetween of a couple of hours where you attend "crazy signs" ( dancing with the guests to the club song at the pool, etc ) or you help the arriving guests with their luggage, etc.. ). You work 6 days a week and mostly more than 14 hours. If you are not "off" you are always "avaivable" this causes long working days. After midnight you mostly train with other G.O's for the coming shows (choreograpy, etc ) followed by going out to a night club outsite the village together with your colleagues.
Every G.O is wearing a "batch" with your name and small flags of the languages you speak, so that every guest knows how to approach you.
I think that should give you a small overview of the work as a G.O.
Have fun reading my blogs. 😊
Greetings
Karsten
