Happy Birthday Kid - Baby - Young Person I'm going to go to Amazon.com and buy The Wave. Sounds like an interesting book. The many things you two seek out are so incredible. Far from the SF Bay however, you cannot believe the numbers of sea gulls living in the water behind our boats and on there pier just sought of us. I had to scrub the top of our boat for hours last Saturday and get the bird poop off there canvas and wheelhouse roof. Glen told us that a massive amount of herring appeared along the coast of Sausalito and dozens of different birds swept the waters eating the fish. There's poop everywhere. I saw a seal yesterday lying in the water with it's fin up in the air. I called the Sausalito Mammal Center and the gal on the phone laughed and said it was a Sea Lion too warm and cooling it's fins/body. So, I mixed another vodka tonic and watched it for an hour. There were either seals swimming around it and I hear the sea lions barking up near Fish - hope they don't move south. Great photos as I look at them tied to the dock. Best to you!! Alan & Carol
It's amazing how many locations you visit are the same names of places in California I can'y believe the winds you encountered going around The Cape. I'm remembering the God Forsaking Seas book wondering how you made that voyage. I met a lady in Christ Episcopal Church here in Sausalito last Sunday that was related to my Grandfather, John Christian McMillan who was descended from Fletcher Christian on The Bounty. We had a great discussion (she was from Scotland - Isle of Mann) and was taken back that we met. What a story of someone taken from the ship - not the first time you're experienced that. I hope you meet the "future King of England" and get a picture of him. When we were in The San Juan Islands, we recorded the brother's wedding in England and have saved it. What a adventurer you guys are going through. God's Speed. Alan & Ms. Carol
Napa (wine) is for Auto Parts; Paso is for Wine (Norman Vineyards in Paso Robles Very interesting that Chile Wines were so "upfront." And the fact that Chile went to the coast of Alaska in measurements. Yesterday morning at 5:30AM, we had two earthquakes in SF - one was 4.0 and the second was 3.7 - did you send those from Chile? A fellow told me he was watching the Channel 7 news and the reporters dived under their desks because the lights were falling over and the cameras looked like they were going to hit them. A bit scary. Sunday the weather was 80 degrees - March? What is this all about? Winds are heavy today (Tuesday the 6th) but the sun is out and shining. What a nice photo of you two and others. You look pretty darn happy and not stranded on Mana. Jack, Raul & Kimba, Glen and Christy spent Friday through Monday on the slopes of Tahoe skiing like crazy - they had 5' of snow there. Glen and Christy went to Minden to talk with a Realtor who had showed their home again. We're hoping they can sell it for a reasonable price as they are now in residence in Marina Plaza. These pictures thou two take are wonderful and both Carol and I enjoy viewing them. Be good and stay out of jail. :)
What a great picture - one leg on either side of the world That church picture was remarkable and as were the others pictures. You two much be almost overwhelmed by the history of what you are walking/driving/flying through. So beautiful. Carol and i have plans to fly to the British Isles and visit Wales. Scotland, Ireland, and then travel to Paris for a few nights and then return home. We both have traveled Europe but not together. My Great (4 x's) Grandfather was Knighted in Wales and Carol's Grandmothers last name was Corker - we need to visit that part of the world. The Ecuador location 0-0-0- is very funny - what a treat to read your blogs. I'm just now catching up as I rest my weary body this morning, reading your blogs again and responding - Carol almost ended Up in the hospital last week when I returned from Florida and I was a wreck after four days of caring for her. Thank God she's okay. I'm sitting here with the lines tied to the dock, frustrated!! Alan (& Ms. Carol)
Great pictures - makes me frustrated that Carol and I aren't touring the world So - on February 24th I turned 70 - lived longer than my dad who died at 69. I was a little shaky on my birthday but Carol had 12 people arrive for a nice gathering. For some reason, as I turned 70, I became anxious to spend more time on out boat and more time on the road. Since we san't afford $400K to travel the world with you two, we are thinking about purchasing a VW "enlarged" camper (I forgot the same) and we will be wondering around the states and end up on Tortuga and begin more and more cruising. The locks in Panama and the photos of the local areas are amazing - we're not Mad that we aren't doing what you do but, we'll find an alternate adventure. Hope you're well and not traveling too close to the Spanish coast. Miss you two! Alan (&Carol)
Wow!! Are you guys in a perfect world! I've been on Tortuga for 10 days - we came up and took Glen, Christy, and our Daughter Kristin to DSt. Matthew's Passion at St. Mark's Church in SF -a performance by the American Bach Soloists. They are amazing - we attended their last performance at Grace Cathedral as the performed The Messiah by Handel. There were 2,100 people in Grace and we were dumbfounded. I just met your tenant Sunday and she seems to be a nice lady. With Carol goner up north, I've been beating my body up cleaning, repairing, and making things look really good -slept 11 hours last night. You two have some really nice photos - classy people. Love ya! Alan
mah jongg bracelet Does this mean that you and Kevin learned to play mah jongg? Mike doesn't play but I have my own set. The next time we meet, we will have to play. Your travels look so beautiful, interesting and warm.
Where do I apply? I really think it is high-time that you guys hired a personal assistant. My resume is on its way! Looks like you are having a great time! :-)
Former Student I graduated from Adair-Casey High School in 1964. Mr. Tinkle was our Superintendent of Schools and Mrs. Tinkle was our typing teacher. They were both an inspiration to many as well as kind and thoughtful. The world has lost a great person with the passing of Mr. Tinkle.
Dr. Tinkle I am sorry to hear of Dr. Tinkle's passing. After reading your and Kevin's memoirs about Dr. Tinkle, I know he had a full life--not measured in years but in experiences and definitely friends. I know he will be missed by his traveling friends.
I only saw him twice but he was memorable. I particularly remember seeing him in a Sioux City hospital after he was airflighted from the ship in the Mideast when he fractured his hip. I expected to find a very debilitated man, considering his age, injury and long trip. Instead, he was propped up in a hospital chair "holding court" with a social worker and making arrangements for his care. He was as sharp as someone 3/4ths his age. Dr. Tinkle was probably 97 at this time. I am proud to have met this remarkable gentleman.
thank you again Dear Kevin & Susan, it is so nice to read this again and see the many pictures of Tinkle and friends. I've got tears in my eyes... But s smile in my heart because we have all been so very blessed by this man. Thank you for sharing this again.
we 'll be home in a week and can try to catch up with you then.
hugs from Jamie & I

Dr. Tinkle Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, although it must be said that 100 (is that what he was?) is more than anyone can ask. We must have a conversation about Dr. Tinkle at some point - am curious.
Say - - - - hope you'll be around on December 8, of this year. Please join us at #7 for an afternoon open house. All kinds of nice folk will be stopping by to wish the newly weds of 50 YEARS, at least 50 more to come, but most importantly, to meet and greet friends and acquaintances made over all the decades. Should be quite a "hoot."
Dr. Tinkle Jim and I had the pleasure to meet Dr. Tinkle during our cruise from Hong Kong to Monte Carlo. It was our first world cruise segment and he was the most welcoming gentleman. I knew he was not on the cruise this year around south America and he was missed. For all that knew him he gave everyone wonderful memories.
LLOYD TINKLE I am so sorry to hear that Lloyd has passed. He was such a dear man and I always loved visiting with him. He and I always enjoyed each others company. You are so correct, there will never be another Lloyd Tinkle. I think of him often and will miss him.
Please send my deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
Mary Courim
We will miss you Dr. tinkle Always a sparkle in your eye and a joyful laugh, we will remember you. What a role model you were. We always enjoyed your piano playing and had fun on the train with you when you told us, "corn, corn, corn". Bon Voyage, Dr. Tinkle.
Lloyd's Agent I was fortunate enough to represent Lloyd for that last four or five World Cruise Bookings. Never in my career had I a better or easier client. Yes, I occasionally had to go into a private office so he could hear me on the telephone but raising my voice was the greatest problem I had with the booking. He was always generous and thoughtful, kind and concerned about others. I will miss his personality and the joy he brought me every year.
Dr.Lloyd Tinkle What a guy, what a joy to know, what a giant of a man, what memories we will have until our final days. He sure touched a lot of people in his lifetime and we feel very fortunate to be included as one of many. Norm & Linda
