looks like fun! hello from Carmel. We are really enjoying the fabulous weather in our area and would have been sad to miss it. This is what we expected when we moved here and it has been infrequent. Lots of parties and celebrations this past week as my bff Ann and I share the same birthday. It was her 70th so many bottles of wine and champagne were enjoyed. She had asked me what I had done on my 70th and it brought back wonderful memories of being on the World Cruise 2 years ago and eating in Prime 7 with you and the Chipmans and Tweedie and Mac. I would really enjoy lobster and filet right now. I was delighted to run into the Griggs at Safeway yesterday and met Sydney. What a beautiful baby and Catherine and Ken look so happy. If you buy anything for the baby, buy it a little large. Her parents say she is growing up fast. Such a happy baby,,,,,one that you just want to pinch the cheeks! We have been doing lots of bridge and decided to go to Walnut Creek today for a 2 day workshop with a bridge pro. After the ATT we will go to a tournament in Santa Clara to try out our new knowledge. Brintons closed sunday without any notice..Pierre Deux on Ocean, several in the Crossroads, a bike shop in monterey,,,,justins i think..actually it was difficult to find a good restaurant or two for our guests during the ATT week.Maybe i will have to cook! Cibo in Carmel is the new fav of our friends...really tasty. I am hosting a party for girls night out to see Joan Rivers at the Sunset on the 10th of Feb. It is during the golf tournament so everyone will be busy. Glad you are having fun and we will keep in touch. love to you both, annette and doug
Loved the pictures and commentary on the Panama Canal. My Spanish professor is from Equador. If you go there, I will have to pass on your blog. On Monday, I was the only student so I had one-on-one attention for 2 hours. I\'m sure that it was exhausting for both of us. It\'s hard to be conversational when my vocabulary is so limited. Where does Teresa teach and what grade?
Found your blog at last Hi, read the Canal edition. Brought back many memories on "Mariner" and South America.
Tell Ed Knight "Happy Birthday" for us. He was on our 09 World Cruise, remember? Good to see pictures of Brlan and Elda, glad they are still there.
Keep the blogs coming. Hope I don't lose the next one.
Bon Voyage,
June and DIck
Sounds like you are off to a great start! Turning left instead of right opens up a lot of possibilities -- we look forward to the next chapters. We will get your next post when we are in Africa -- exciting stuff!!
Henry
your blog finally can see your great blog - but had to go to travelblog.org and then to bloggers and then you. Any chance of seeing you when you get back? We would love for you to come over. Hugs, Tweedie and Mac
Late,Late a haapy new year, Kevin and Susan!
We returned home after a long journey. Even if Izu area, we have a cold weather in this winter. We are glad to know that both of you are very fine and enjoying the Caribbean cruising trip. Caribbean islands must be good. You enjoyed even a sail and snorkel excusion. We envy you, it is not possible to enjoy now snorkeling in the sea in Japan.
We know that Regent is safe and confortable ship. Please continue to enjoy your caribbean cruise. Masa
KEVIN AND SUSAN Margery Yates has been so sweet to forward your previous blogs, which i have enjoyed
Immensely. You two are great writers. I appreciate you sharing your travels for this "home body"
Happy travels, Love, Sandy Forrest
your bio Umm, your bio has current year at 2013. Now, I know you want to bypass that inevitable Dec 21, 2012 -- but ya gotta accept the current year, lol.
Fun in da Sun Okay, I am a wee bit jealous of that sun and turquoise water. Great shot of the buidlings in the sunlight and I love that rainbow. Susan, one can only imagine you broke into song ("Somewhere Over the Rainbow") when you saw that image. Hope the ice and the Gavi wine hold out for you. Bon Voyage! BTW, really? A drive of 5500 miles to So Fla? You must really have very HEAVY luggage and wanted to avoid those over-weight airline fees (lol). Oh, I still want YOUR job! My next cruise is in 54 days....
Wow! What a trip - and - 10 more times around the world? What an opportunity.
We haven't met your tenant as yet - we were in Marina Plaza for a few days but didn't hock up with her. Glen & Christy have moved aboard their boat and we hope to see them around 2/24 - my 70th Birthday. We are going to attend the American Bach Soloists in SF on 2/25. Nice mail! Alan & Carol
Glad that the Regent is safe We are enjoying your blogs again this year and we were relieved that the Regent was not the cruise ship that capsized in Italy. That is not good publicity for cruise ships and hard to believe with current navigational technology. Safe travel.
Off again, I see Hi Kevin and Susan, This sounds like a great trip!! We have "cruised" the Amazon on a medical mission trip a few years ago. Gorgeous! Have fun and thanks for the blog!!
Love, Jan
Bon Voyage Kevin & Susan,
What a spectacular, spectacular journey you are setting out on. I look forward to reading about your adventures along the way. You are such an inspiration!
From London, With Love,

Bon Voyage Good to hear from you and it reminded us that we were booked for this cruise and cancelled it to go on a cruise with Regent, starting June 3,2012 in South Hampton and going on to Copenhagen. June 3rd is the date you will be leaving the ship and also the day we will be getting on. Talk about poor planning! Be on the lookout for us and we will do the same. Maybe we can take a peak at each other.
The picture of Dr. Tinkle in St. Pete looks like he is in a nursing facility. We are always in St. Pete for a week or so around Christmas, visiting Linda's family. If you go to St.Pete again this year, let us know when and maybe we can hook up.
Have a great cruise and only wish you could be with us. Hugs, Norm & Linda
just missed Greetings,
We almost made the South American trip this year but decided to delay it.We did fly to Dubai and boarded the QM 2 back to New York. It was the last leg of their round the world cruise.
We stayed at the Burj Al Arab for two nights getting upgraded to a two bed room suite because of our AE Platinum, 3600 sq.ft. Did we get lost!
After Regent you will think you are in a tramp steamer when you board the QM 2.We were in the Princess Grill and the food was mostly from steam table. The man next to us turned around one night and said, "You sure need a very sharp knife to get through that steak!"
All three dinning rooms have the same menu and they do not encourage you to request some thing that's not on the regular. We did it in its second year when it was still under Cunard. Carnival has really cut back.
But the best part of the trip was meeting Bob and Kathy. They were are Host and Hostess and did a find job of chasing us down, because we were not Rounders, and making us feel welcomed. They took us on a tour of Monte Carlo which was terrific. From the very top of the mountain all the way down to Bea Rothchilds old house on Cap Ferrat for lunch. And one night they had us for cocktails with another couple just to make up for lost time. Very Nice.
Well as always, we are filled with envy but delighted with your lifestyle wish you a wonderful season afloat.
Tony and Joe
Hi Uncle Kevin and Aunt Susan! I love reading about your adventures. Have a wonderful trip. I look forward to reading about it. Love you both. -Jennifer
I will be looking forward to your blogs all the way around the world. Bob and Kathy were so nice to me when I had to leave early on my last cruise, actually do to a very bad tooth which needed a root canal. Dag sent me off the ship whether I liked it or not. It turned out that I would have been in very serious trouble if I had atttempted to cross the ocean from Madeira to Fort Lauderdale.
The weather here in the bay area is so lovely, warm and clear every day.
Fondly Carol Ede
your gonna love this Hi Susan & Kevin, we did whole SA on Mariner and it was our favorite cruise. Hope, Barry is your Cruise Director, what a great guy - have him do Frank Sinatra....We will think of you often.
