Sticking iwth the familiar
As we age we realize how important it is to go to those places we've been and truly enjoy. You've still got time for the bucket list but I'll bet you've been to most of your have to's. Our time in India was short and we always enjoy reading your adventure. .... also David and Janice adventures. All of you have that passion for vibrant India.

Udaipur!
Mike, you sure have developed a close bond with India, I can sense from your readings. I been to Udaipur once, and I concur everything you said about the place...it looks like history written in every nook and corner of the city. While riding a cab to Ahmadabad, I still remember some lonely camels on the desert like terrain in the twilight...a picture perfect moment. All comes back to mind while reading your blog. Thank you. Waiting to hear about your adopted family in India.

Muskarate raho!
It never ceases to amaze and please me how my Indian friends, despite their busy lives, continue to give me their time so generously. I have very fond memories of the many meas, drinks and adventures we have enjoyed together - and this trip will certainly provide many more.

Travel safely
Hi Little Brother, Enjoy every moment - that goes without saying for you. David

Currently enjoying a veggie biriani...
...iand a large Kingfisher in the Jaiwana Haveli's rooftop restaurant, complete with that great view over Lake Pichola to the Taj Lake Palace Hotel (which I'm sure you and Janice will remember from our stay here in 2013). Lots of new things to discover this time - blogs will tell all. Muskarate raho!

Wow
This looks like a great place to visit. Hope to get there some day!

That was 7 years ago...
...but Kerala, and the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary in particular, are still vivid memories. If you're at all interested in birdlife, the Salim Ali Sanctuary is a 'must' during any visit to Kerala - in much the same way as Keoladeo (Bharatpur) is if you go to Rajasthan in the north. Read about the latter in my blog from 2013 entitled 'A Birder Paradise in Rajasthan?' (https://www.travelblog.org/Asia/India/Rajasthan/Keoladeo-National-Park/blog-777525.html). India is a great place to visit for birds and other wildlife, culture, history, people, religions... It has it all!

Never a dull moment!
Hello Mike, More great stuff from delightful India - I particularly like the Northern Pintail, but you already know that! Great pictures as ever and an ever widening circle of friends. We did meet a young couple whilst out on a walk in the wilds of Spain. and they turned out to be ardent followers of our Travelblog! David and Janice .....greyhairednomads

The Pintail was for you!
I think there was another one on a previous blog too!

Bar-headed Geese in flight

Photography
Hi Mike, how do you take such wonderful pictures of birds in flight? What is the secret camera setting?!

Bar-headed Geese in flight

There's no secret!
Any camera will do - you just need a fast shutter speed. Fast reactions help too - these geese were already making a run for it! If it helps, I used a 100-300mm telephoto lens at 300mm, 1/3200sec, f/5.6, ISO-400 for this shot. Keep smiling!

Travel Blog friends
We've met several of the people who blog on Travel blog and the friendship began by reading their blogs and commenting. As a matter of fact our friend Brendan who we are currently traveling with is one of those people. Like minded interest make for great friends. Your photos as always exceptional. Maybe our paths will cross.

It's a small world...
...I haven't yet met any TravelBloggers (other than the Grey Haired Nomads - but relatives don't count!), but who knows...? On my flight from London to Delhi last month, I sat next to a young man who had just moved to a neighbouring town (where I used to work) from a town a long distance away (where I lived for 21 years) and who had uncles who lived within a few houses of the one in which I was born! It really is a small world

Photos?
I've used cameras for almost 60 years, so I've had a lot of practice - but I could still do with some more!

That's another unholy mess you've got me into..
Perhaps it's a good job I didn't take a photo from the opposite direction!

An uncomfortable two hours!

Discomfort of camels
We were shocked when we road one at what a miserable experience it was. We've met few people who have really enjoyed the experience. Hollywood made it look fun.

An uncomfortable two hours!

Discomfort's not the word!
...at least not when you ride the rear saddle!

Getting lost
I also think getting lost is a lot of fun. It's one of the reasons I travel alone, you can follow any interesting path you come across.

Yes, it sometimes seems a bit scary but, in India, the people always try to help you find your way - even if they don't have a clue which way it is!
