Keep Smiling's Guestbook

What a lovely article!
Wow I loved reading your warmly descriptive article! It's a pleasure to visit the Colony so vividly via your blog! You capture the simple play of the colony life perfectly! Do you mind if I put a link to our Facebook page so that our many friends and well wishers get to also visit through your blog? And just to clarify, we are a registered trust under the name of Family In Action, however as the Sunflower Learning Centre is only 14 months old we must wait another year to apply for the certifications to receive foreign funding for the project. Many blessings!

The Sunshine Learning Centre
Thank you Tamara. Please feel free to share this blog. I hope to see you and your school again when I return to Jaisalmer next year. Meantime, keep smiling!

Flattery
'A little flattery will support a man through great fatigue' (James Monroe) - and, boy, was I fatigued at the end of that walk! Personally, I prefer the photo of the wall painting through an archway inside the temple as a memory of my visit, but the priest here was most welcoming and I couldn't resist taking his photo too.

Katrina
Without my friends and guides I may never have spotted this leopard. It was a great opportunity.

Tea time
You are having a great time.

Tea time in Jhalana Forest

Tea - on safari
It was somehow weird to stop for tea, complete with tables and chairs - and biscuits. One of the advantages of being with the man with a key to the deserted hilltop fort!

Spotted Leopards!
There's only one word for it little brother - Fantastic! David - the rear end of the grey-haired-nomads

A fantastic end
If Holi was the colourful ending, the leopards of Jhalana were the fantastic one!

Holi

Umm, nice...
The pink hair was anything but nice! Even my hairdresser noticed it still there on Monday, a week after the event!

Enjoyed thoroughly!
I really enjoyed reading this blog as it reminded my yesteryear when playing holi in India was part of my life. And I am glad you enjoyed it too. As a matter of fact, it is hard not to enjoy! BTW, this was your chance to dye the hair to see which one suits you best!!! I must apologize that I couldn't read all your blogs lately as I have been preoccupied and traveling due to work. Unfortunately, that would continue for the next month or so. But I will sneak in when I have some breathing space to read your blog. Keep writing, please!

Holi was fun...
...the pink hair wasn't! It's simply not British!! I'm pleased you're enjoying the blogs as much as I'm enjoying writing them. They'll still be there to remind me (and my followers) of what I did when my brain cells eventually give up!

Dear Indian friends
Dear Mike, really enjoyed your blog and hearing about another crazy Holi - they are special. Particularly nice was to read about another individual who has made friendships in India. As you are no doubt aware this is not a hard thing to do given their warmth, kindness and generosity, but it is not something you read about often in many blogs about India. We too adore India and the Indians who have, time and time again, looked after us wonderfully. It was so wonderful to read of your experiences and know that still all is well in that most special place in the world. Best Andy n Ali.

Holi
Thanks. Yes, India is a very special place. I have been there at Holi before, but had never played with the colours. Now I have, I'm not sure I want to repeat the experience! :0)

You take amazing bird photos. I never tire of them.

Bird photos
Thank you. You flatter me. I simply photograph what I see. Birds have become something of an interest since spending time in 2013 with those keen birders, the Grey Haired Nomads. I enjoy the challenge of trying to photograph the little ones. Thank goodness for modern digital cameras - if I had to rely on the film cameras of my youth, you wouldn't see very many photographs on my blogs!

Music and medical care
I would love to hear the gypsy musicians playing. Looks like you did a nice job with the bandage. Sounds like the learning center is doing well.

Music?
HaHa - it depends on what you call music, I guess. You either love or hate the sounds these gypsies make! I think the little girl's wound will heal, given time but a cleaner environment would help. Meanwhile, she continues to smile and learn, and that must be a good thing. I enjoyed spending time with her family; it was eye-opening, as is so much in this fascinating country.

102 and still standing!
What's more, he was still walking and talking - although he didn't have any teeth!

Early trains and more
I don't like those really early trains and as you say in India they won't run on time. One of the thing I didn't like about our time in India was the loud music. (blarring) I always enjoy your blogs because you give a bit of history.

The largest rail network in the world?
Thanks. Yes, trains in India are a mixed blessing - if you join them at their first point of departure, they leave on time, but they're invariably late arriving at their destination. There are so many trains but I think the freight trains have priority over the passenger ones! I always meet interesting people on them though.
