I stayed here for a week with some close friends in April. April was the perfect time to go as it was not too hot, but there was plenty of sun to enjoy and the sunsets over Lake Kariba were stunning. The whole island is a resort, but not as in the Disney sort, but more of an eco lodge. Spurwing Island sits on the southern (Zimbabwe side) part of the lake near Sanyati Gorge. From the town of Kariba it is about a 40 km boat ride to the island. Its not near any towns or villages, because the island butts up against the majestic Matusadona hills, which provide the backdrop for the scenery there.
