pics I was curious to see what a class V rapid looked like, and I found good pics on this guy's webpage: http://www.stanford.edu/~siegelr/nile.html
He has a little bit of funny commentary about getting thrashed on the nile too. :)
mmm. food. Just read your epic! Very dramatic and scarey but we`re glad to hear you are well again and back to getting to enjoy eating your grub again : ) Hope you enjoy bonnie Scotland!
hello from the northwest US jen, its been awhile since our last communication, but i wanted to thank you for all the updates. i am beyond jealous of your journeying. stay safe and have fun!
Hi From U.K. Hey, Hey, Hey...
Got your msg while we in Shanghai... but now we're finally home - Boo!!!. We've unpacked and got mounds of washing to do! Hope the journey to Chengdu wasn't too bad and enjoy the Pandas. It was rammed with people in Shanghai so I'm sure the national holiday is keeping it exciting for you! We'll be keeping an eye on your Blog so you'll be probably hear from us regularly.
Take Care,
Michael and Faye.
anything fried is good i've been trying to keep up with all of the reading. I really love living vicariously through friends that are traveling. Remember when "anything fried is good" became our mantra in Ecuador?
What do you mean you'll "think about it???" Come on! The whole starting a new business with a total stranger from a completely different country sounds like a done deal to me!
madagascar Jen, I'm glad you got to see the Indris up close, but the rest of your time in Mad. sounded so rough that I will scratch it from my future travel plans. You certainly have grown strong, and sarcastic, along the way. I admire your courage and tenacity. I have been surprised by how cold it was there and in Africa. By the way, it was 107 F. in Eugene, Or. yesterday, but a delightful 70 F. at the gorgeous coast. I'm glad I'm here for now.
We're green with envy! Hi Jen! We've been avidly following your journey across Africa, and are SO jealous! Keep on travelling - it definitely makes us look forward to more travel whilst back in Blighty!
rafting I had no idea that the Nile had class V rapids. That is equivalent to the worst rapid on the Colorado, in the Grand Canyon, which I rafted for 18 days in May with my friends from Eugene and had an incredible time, better than anything I had done during my 7 months overseas. You sure have become brave during the past 6 months. Rock on!
Hooray for Leopards! Wow!! You got to see the leopards! That's awesome. Glad to hear that everything is still going well. Looking forward to more entires to read about. Stay safe!
no worries jen, your adventures sound amazing. i feel jealous when i read each new update. i hope you are well and enjoying your new experiences. take care, no worries about responding. i will talk to you soon enough.
lol its funny that you mention "garbage horses"... the people who collect garbage using those carriages arent official garbage men.. THEY DO HAVE GARBAGE TRUCKS IN URUGUAY....lol... those guys are simply very poor and rely on the garbage they collect for survival.
hang in there hang in there jen. we are all way jealous of you, whether or not we admit it.... like i wrote before - YOU are our American IDOL! if i knew how to send you some cash, i would! love
steph!!!!
Wow! When I read this entry, I had never heard of the Iguazu Falls. So I did some "google-research," and looked at pictures, and they sound incredible! (It also sounds like a lot of hiking... you must be in great shape!) Btw, Mom and I just went to the island of Kauai and saw lots of waterfalls due to a very rainey season.
the falls we take yeah, we will be there soon. are you still with scott? and who is this christoph fellow? be careful with strangers, and watch your top knot.

My friend and i are studying in Buenos Aires for a semester and booked a passage to colonia for semana santa,,,, unfortunatly the only hostel that we can find on the internet is booked!!
