I KNEW you'd find a hobbit if you hung around in the South Island long enough :) Beautiful photos, I almost think NZ bush is better in this kind of weather.. more moody?

What a wonderful photograph. Well, they are all great, but I particularly like this one. It sounds as though your trip really is one of a life time, and I am really jealous!

Cup of cha
I saw the weather kick out yesterday and hoped you'd be ok - it seems to be coming right again though. I love that Mum was there early in the carpark knowing you'd like a cup of tea - she's brilliant at knowing that kind of stuff.

hobbits and great scenery
Those are some stunning shots! I'd almost forgotten how beautiful Wanaka is. Do you feel a bit like you're trekking through the Lord of the Rings movie? - Bob I didn't realise you were a strider (as Lucy says) does that mean you and Dad are both striding ahead to set the pace? :)

what a life!
That first photo of Lake Wakatipu looks like a painting its amazing. Just make sure you have some rest days amongst all this walking you dont want to burn out!! And we have all decided dads attempt at donning his beach outfit was missing the surf board and the sea so next time we want feet in the water and a surf board at least!!

What an amazing machine, Alan says a friend of his sells them. Hope Qld and beyond can come up to NZ standards as it sounds too good to be true. Let me know if you want me to organize 14th-19th Feb

Anything missing?
It looks like you have something missing on a skegway, they look mighty peculiar. The blog is addictive, its so exciting when you get an email saying there is a new posting! Happy South Island travelling.

sculptures
lovely to see you both again too :) Thought you'd like to know that The three building sculptures represent buildings that once stood in Auckland. Apparently there is also some "sophisticated park furniture" "with a hint of art nouveau" created by local artist and silversmith Matthew von Sturmer in the park... I can only assume they mean the park benches.. who knew? :)

show us the real thing!
have you got any pics of a real Kwiw? and has dad learnt the Haka yet? and remember mine and Graeme's request for dad to don his christmas bermuda shorts on the beach or paddling in the sea. I like the nuts and raisins story, Mum you were obviously just worried you might not find your way back on the walk and were doing a hansel and gretle trail to stay safe, don't worry i would do the same thing!! Keep having fun, love from Amy

Blog addiction
Hello both, I'm totally addicted to your blog, and cannot do anything when I get in from work each evening until I have checked it. It's brilliant. You look so different in the photos, Bob, from the pose I am used to seeing you in - behind a tatty desk at Park House with a baguette and a packet of crisps.....

Amazing places
It all looks like a different world with all the strange silica landscapes and geysers blowing steam everywhere. Glad to see you are having such a good time. All going well at home, nothing underwater as yet and everyone well.
