New Orleans Navy Week

a trip by Jerry A. Fincher
From: April 22nd 2012
Until: April 22nd 2012

It was Navy Week in NOLA and there were several ships from many different countries at port. They were in town to help kick off the celebration for the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.

New Orleans served as the inaugural city in a three-year national celebration commemorating the War of 1812 and the Star-Spangled Banner.

We did find a bit of irony that a British ship would be in port to help kick off this celebration, but THEY WERE part of the history of this!
