Penobscot bay Loved your blog on the Bay. I have a few boating friends in the area. One
couple, Gene and Kathy, live in Castine and he use to work at the marine
school there. Van and I visited them in the house in Maine as well as in
Vero Beach. They had a boat named Northern Cross. Have not heard from them
in awhile and do not know if they still are boating.
The other couple lives in Camden and we had visited with them also. They
live within walking distance of the harbor. They have a small lobster boat
which he built and the name of it is Spike. He also captains the schooner
that takes folks out on a tour of the harbor.Camden is a lovely place. I
went there myself one year and stayed above a little bakery run by a
religious group. It overlooked the harbor. Friends there are Lynette and Bob
Walthers. They had a sailboat named Patience and now have a trawler at their
other home in East Palatka on the St John's river. Lovely place there too.
Ruth and I stopped there for a short visit on our way south last year. They
have lots of orange and grapefruit trees and shared them with us.
Has it been very hot in Maine? Very hot here the past few days. Not fun
having to work at the carousel in this heat. It was 95 in there yesterday. I
have to work there again tonight. Another scorcher today. I prefer the
cooler weather. 70 is nice.
Ruth and I going to Va at the beginnig of Sept. It is coming soon. Have to
pick up my trip tik at AAA today.
Babysitting my 5 yr old great grandson this week. He starts kindergarten
this year. Another granddaughter had a little boy on Aug 5. Family keeps on
growing. Soon we will need a hall for get togethers.
Have a great and safe trip south. And stay away from the hurricanes. I heard
they are brutal to be in.
Love to both
Jeanne
Maine Looks like you are having great weather. I love the pictures. It is finally getting hot here.
next w/e I will be going with Ruth and the Shriner's for a w/e in NH/Vt. They have a parade in Hanover and lots of fun things at the motel ie building boats to float in the pool.
Keep having fun

maine travelogue Mary and Christian - delightful blog! And so happy to hear news of Sherry and Bob on Shamal; we'd lost track of them and are so glad to know they're still out there and enjoying cruising/land. Among other things, we spent a rough and uneasy anchorage with them at Conception Island one time. Please say hi from us. Your pictures are fabulous! Sale worthy. Scott's been enjoying your blogs quite some, and since you've gone to this format, I tag along, but slower than formerly ith the emails. Keep 'em coming!
thanks and love
Lora
Wonderful pictures and stories Thanks for the narration of your travels to Maine. You are so fortunate to go and visit. We are so fortunate to do it ficariously. Keep sharing as it is great to read and connect with you.
midwest pictures Have you had comments on the gas station picture?? Kum and Go can't be just everywhere ! Enjoyed the picture of us at Edgars Soda Shop in Elk Point. Glad it was all "a taste of home" .
Thinking of you! Dave and I are watching your trek up the coast. So sorry we missed you when you stopped at Solomons Is. But glad you took the bad weather with you up the coast...(grin). Things are warming up down here in MD. Come back to see us!!!

Great to see you! So glad we were able to get together--and that the weather was OK. Can't remember a worse June, and think of you often trying to get East in this stuff. We will probably go from 60's to 90's in one day when summer decides to arrive! Love your blog! Toby and George
Wonderful Loved your pics of NYC even if the weather hasn't been great. We have had a week of fog and rain, so hope it will improve once you get near us. See you soon!
Cat Crew Update Carter is adapting very well to life in Charleston - he is a funny cat and amuses me to no end. Today he sat on my lap purring (a rare treat) and I got such a kick out of his purr - a weak, raspy purr, like he's not really sure if he wants to show me he's enjoying the affection.
niiice Wow what a lovely blog. Almost forgot Anpls area is so lovely. "Some day" I must see some of it from the water. You really do have a talent for lovely commentary. Thanks from my world to yours. XO John
Eastern Shore in the fall If you're still up in the northern Chesapeake this fall, take another trip to the same parts of the Eastern Shore you just visited. At that point, there's not just more geese than cows, there's more geese than air -- the flocks can turn the sky dark when they cruise overhead. Of course, it's pretty loud at night; but it's worth it!

Solomon's Island stop Mary and Christian: I'm so sorry to have missed you two when you were in Solomons. I was driving back to MD from TN that day--10 hour drive. I gather that you will return through Solomons soon. Dave and I would love to have you here for dinner and hear all about your season plans. I'll call you.
Love this blog site! All the news and pix too!

Lookin Good You guys look great back out cruising. You both look very happy, and we are envious that we are home working and you are back out playing. The pictures remind us how nice the waterway can be.
Keep it up,
Doug and Sharon
The FIrst? I can't believe I am the first to comment, just lucky I was on when your e-mail came in.
You bring back all kinds of memories, the good and the frustrating, but oh the good!!!
I do hope to get out on Ariel this summer, and would love to have I Wanda as an anchor mate. We all do go way back to 1992-93. That seems sooo long ago.
Fair winds, and do get on the Crusiheimers and say hi from Ariel III,
Love ya,
Diane
We have been cruising on our Nichloson 40 pilot house sloop "I Wanda" since the summer of 1993. In the early years we cruised from Maine to the Bahamas with our teenagers and now we visit them by boat. In 2003 we crossed the Atlantic via Bermuda and the Azores, and spent 3 years cruisng the Med. Kitties have nearly always accompanied us.... full info
