i'm in love with provence Mary and Christian,
Your photos are magnificent - I love the market, especially! The cheese! The cemetery is very interesting, too. Pretty, and quaint. Spring in Provence sounds like heaven.
Thanks for a beautiful post.

pics of maine Loved your lastest entry with the pics of Maine. I did recognize some of the people and boat names that you mentioned. Fond memories to be sure. Have a safe trip back and watch out for that hurricane Irene
Keeping in Touch It is always a treat to read your blogs. I hope your transmission problems can resolved quickly and cheaply so you can hit the high seas again. I agree that being stuck in Maine a little while is not all bad.
My travels since the first of the year have included Savannah area, Puerto Rico, DC Tour and England. I went to England with daughter Mary and niece Nicole. Besides sightseeing we connected with our relatives in Bath. We truly enjoyed our trip. Tne night we returned Mary's beau Jack gave her an engagement ring. The wedding is a small one in my brother's flower garden in Sioux Falls. Mary and Jack are 35 and just want to get on with their lives without all the oopla and stress. Roger and I feel blessed.
Since returning from England, we have been enjoying our other pasttime fishing. We have been home a week which seems all right, too, since we have to cats that miss us and a lawn and garden that need our attention.
You are probably aware of the flooding on the Missouri. We are not directly involved, but our hearts go out to our family and friends who are dealing with the situation. Linda and Ray Schmitz just moved to lovely home at Riverland Estates. I believe they now have water on the main floor. We wish we could ship water down to Texas, New Mexico and Arizona where they really need it. As we all know, this all shall pass, too.
Again, great to hear from you. Best of luck with the transmission and future travels.
re: your adventures Love to hear from you and glad for the pictures. With the terrible weather down there we are happy to know you are safe and sound....
super Enjoyed this blog entry which I hadn't seen before. We never went to Nassau so seeing the pics were especially entertaining. Love the Kalik next to the conch salad!
Nassau harbor THANKS so much for the pictures!!! Hungrily looked at all of them! Brought back a lot of memories. Glad Nick and Carolyn are still doing their thing.
Good to also see a picture of the two of you - looking great!
through hulls Good for you! Water coming into the boat, not a good thing, and often hard to diagnose. But not for the intrepid sailors aboard I Wanda!
So glad the bilge is now dry. :-) You are right that the regular maintenance of many things prevents problems or at least makes the fix easier when problems arise. I'm getting a physical next week for that reason!
thru-hulls Hello there. We, on Iona, are in the process of replacing some of ours that are a bit thin now. We have decided that there are some of those little used ones that might be better off replaced. So dear JACK is contemplating the task. We will replace them all slowly, two at a time over the next few years. I applaud you keeping your thru-hulls in good nick. We have serviced ours as well, but time has taken its tole and it is now time to begin replacing.
Memories relived Hi Mary and Christian: Thanks for the walk down memory lane. We will always have a warm spot in our hearts for the Exuma Islands and the wonderful people--both native and cruising--that we met there! Dave and I send our love to all of you down there. Dave is readying his newest boat (Alberg 30) for extensive cruising in the Chesapeake Bay this year. Sadly, no more Exumas for us--but we do still have those years of memories! When will we see you again up here?
George Town Blues What a trip down memory lane! Thanks so much for the report and especially the pictures of George Town haunts! How we miss it. Still looks very familiar, though we understand a lot has changed - not familiar with the St. Francis. Can just see, feel, hear and smell the atmosphere -
We also fell into both camps, liking the camaraderie and facilities, but also tiring sometimes of the crowds and so many activities. So we also would run off to Conception, Black Point, or other locales. Rainy and cool in the Midwest, but daffodils are 3" up and flowering trees are budded. Spring will be welcome!
Thanks so much for your blog - we look forward to each entry.
love to you

News Just a quick note. Macarthy's has been sold to Joe White of O'Leary Funeral Home. He is moving the Funeral Home out there to get away from the congestion on Park St. Also the dentist that has Dr. Morrow's practice is moving from Park Street to Rt 310. I think for the same reason.
I am really enjoying the travel blog. Thanks so much for giving us a chance to see things we will never get to see our selves.
I miss the Bahamas I was doing really good being land based until I read your Blog and you reminded me of all the great friends we made down there. Please say Hi to everyone for us.
We are so happy that you are having a lovely time. We miss those pristine waters for sure! All is well in the mountains. The thick ice, built up on so many roofs from the unusual weather, slid off of our roofs today... temps in the 40s. Another arctic cold blast with high winds expected today and tomorrow! We keep you in our hearts as you travel. Have fun and be safe out there. XOXO, CLODS
Memories It was great seeing and hearing about changes in Long Island. Remebered some of the boats and people you were talking about. Surprised about Mike and Dawn owning a place there. Remembered when they lived in Maine and were going home to stop cruising so there son could go to school. Now he is all grown up. Life is too short.
Would love to see pictures of the people on your blog too
Stay safe
Re Exploring Exumas Oh! Your pictures and excellent detail made us miss it all the more! We remember the very calm and clear water on the Banks, and the beautiful colors of blue. The sky and water melting together. The conch, and Lorraine's. We had a rough night in that harbor once but maybe not as rough as you describe. We don't recall a landermat there; maybe it wasn't there when we were. They'd only had electricity and some running water since the mid '90's. Can't wait for your GT report. This Sunday Scott (the Stick) and I meet with another couple who want to sell everything and move aboard. They haven't owned a boat before (!) but have sailed a lot on cats and do seem to have some clue. Should be interesting, they want to know the good the bad and the ugly.
love to you both,
Lora, the Stick and the Twig
We have been cruising on our Nichloson 40 pilot house sloop "I Wanda" since the summer of 1993. In the early years we cruised from Maine to the Bahamas with our teenagers and now we visit them by boat. In 2003 we crossed the Atlantic via Bermuda and the Azores, and spent 3 years cruisng the Med. Kitties have nearly always accompanied us.... full info
