Colleen, Dave and I went for a week vacation down in Florida. I was ready for some fun and sun! Using Dave's fabulous Wyndham employee discount, we were able to stay at a 2 bedroom condo in Pompano Beach, which is just north of Fort Lauderdale, for an amazing price. The condo was part of a resort, with four pools, four whirlpools, volleyball courts, mini-golf, and a spa. While the early 90's decor in the condo left something to be desired, it was large and definitely perfect for our week away! We had a fun week- One night, we ventured across the street from our condo, where The Isle Casino and Racing Park at Pompano Beach is, and we played some slots - no big winners for us, unfortunately!!! One day, we went to the Everglades- ... read more

It's hard to believe I've been home for over 4 months now. I'm settling right back, but at the same time, the travel bug is still biting! :) I'm currently looking for a job in Colorado...but we'll see what happens with that. For the time being, I'm satisfying the bug by close-to-home travels, during my days off. Just thought I'd post some of my adventures here - to let people know that there are tons of places and fun times within a couple of hours drive! Overnight, Colleen and I drove up to Michigan, along the shoreline of Lake Michigan. Our first stop was at the Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo. It's a pretty new Casino, and was huge inside! Tons of penny slots, so that was fun. Neither one of us was super ... read more

We had a great family snowmobile trip to Land O' Lakes, WI from 12/27-12/31. The trails were smooth and the weather was perfect. We hadn't been able to get the whole family together for a few years, so that made it extra nice. We stayed at the Sunrise Lodge, which is right on Lac Vieux Desert, which is a pretty large lake on the Wisconsin / Michigan border. We stay in a two-story house, complete with our own fireplace and homemade cookies from the owners! Of course, the vacation couldn't go off without a hitch - we had an adventure our first day of riding! Since our family downsized from four to two sleds, we rented 2 brand new '08 Ski-Doo Freestyle snowmbiles from Ramesh Motorsports in LOL. They were right out of the box with ... read more

Ooooh, Paris! After waiting for years to go to the city of my dreams, we finally arrived....well, a little inconspicuously, I thought. I wanted ot shout it out, we're here, we've arrived....even if it did take us nine hours on a bus from Amsterdam, where no one else spoke english, and the bus driver kept yelling at everyone in french, about smelly socks, and keeping on shoes the entire trip. Fun wouldn't be the first word that came to mind, but since cheap was, the bus surely delivered on that end! ... read more

I was so excited yesterday, when Beth and Mike arrived from Chicago. The first friends I've seen in over seven months - it was pretty amazing to see them :) We were staying at St. Christopher's Inn Hostel in London Bridge. It's the same hostel I'd stayed at my first time in London, when I'd met Claudine and Marie. ... read more

Water is Best is the unofficial slogan for Bath, England, and for good reason. Founded by Romans, who made the Roman Baths still standing to this day, the natural hot springs here have been a place to revel, to relax, and to pray to gods since the Iron Age. I took a day trip from Oxford to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of none other than William Shakespeare. Pretty much the bane of my freshman English class, Shakespeare has never been one of my favourite authors. Growing up, he stood for everything I hated in literature - Old English language, incomprehensible enough to have me reading over every sentence two or three times, and way too much symbolism. Finding and understanding symbolism in books has never been a strong point for me. I am not a real deep person - I don't consider myself shallow, but what you see is what you get. I don't like to cut through layers and layers to get at hidden meanings. Therefore, it might come as a suprise that I took a day trip today to the place that holds ... read more

My first day of journeying south towards London. I’ve stopped overnight in York. Such a cute town! The kind of town my mom would love - pedestrian streets with tons of cute stores. It’s a medieval town with tons of history - there used to be a Roman fort here, back in the day. It’s such a lively town, the streets are bustling. Besides all of the unique stores, there are also a bunch of open-air markets. Walking along the medieval cobbled stones, each street corner offers up new surprises. From roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, ice rinks and merry-go-rounds, crafts, flowers, sausages and cheeses, clothing, ice sculptures or Christmas carolers, it is definitely the most unique town I’ve ever been to. Wandering around town a bit, I decided to visit the main attraction in ... read more
