Antonia and I spent nearly two weeks traveling around Portugal and it's fair to say that we grew to appreciate the country a bit more each day. This appreciation certainly increased dramatically once we made it to the beaches of the Algarve coast in the south of Portugal. We started by spending three nights in Lisbon then moving onto Porto for one night before following the Douro river valley east to have a look at the vinyards that were responsible for all the port wine we had been drinking. Our day in Porto included stops at 3 wineries in Vila Nova de Gaia which is right across the river from Porto, and countless glasses of free wine samples.
