Hi All, Well we don't have much to report except that Hervey Bay is experiencing an unseasonal wet period (surprise, surprise). We went for a drive on Saturday to some of the local areas along the Caloola coast and then on Monday we headed up to Woodgate which is only about two hours from here and stayed in the National Park for a couple of nights. It was a lovely place and would be great on a nice sunny day but the weather was overcast while we were there and we packed up on Wednesday morning in the rain. Just waiting for the weather to clear now and then we will head off again. Love Maree and John... read more

Hi all, Well we didn't find the fortune that we had hoped for and didn't even find a stone that was big enough to cut but we had fun trying. We spent a week at Sapphire looking for the elusive stones that we didn't find last time, to no avail. John thinks that we need three strong sons to do the digging for us as it is hard work. We did meet some lovely people and sat around campfires singing and listening to a bush poet and all for free so we can't complain about that. All of the caravan parks were booked out so we stayed in a free camp at the Lions Park and it was lovely. We are finding that the free camps are a lot more social than caravan parks so are ... read more

Hi All, We have just returned to River Heads after a week of fishing at Boondooma Dam. Johns uncle from Gympie was there with another couple and we spent a very enjoyable week with them. We had a beautiful campfire every night and attempted to catch fish during the day. I caught my very first Australian Bass which I was very excited about until John threw it back without me even getting a picture. He then went on to catch another couple, both of which we got photos of (although they weren't as big as mine). The camper worked well and so far we are very happy with it. We then went back to Gympie and had a couple of nights with uncle Geoff and Marie before heading back to River Heads. We did put the ... read more

Hi All Well after two long days on the road and one very cold night at Glen Innes we have arrived at River Heads. This will be our base for the next few months. We haven't really made any plans from here except for a couple of days of rest and recuperation which is sorely needed at the moment. We are both still recovering from that nasty flu. We are thinking of going fishing with John's uncle on Monday for a couple of days and then want to get the boat on the water here in the Sandy Straits. Weather is nice but still a little cool at night. Have posted a photo taken early in the morning at Glen Innes and everything was covered in frost(even colder than Canberra). Love to all ... read more

Hi All, The Formans are finally leaving. After a few delays we are finally ready to depart for the warmer regions of this country. We are leaving tomorrow morning at about 9.00 am and will just drive until we are ready to stop for the night. We have no set agenda so will probably take about three days to get to Hervey Bay. We have not really made any other plans as yet except to do some Barra fishing and to go to the Gympie Muster. As you can imagine John is over the moon about that little excursion. The new camper hasn't been used yet so it will be an interesting trip and we are very excited about it. I will post a more up to date picture asap as this one was taken before ... read more

Well after a couple of lovely days at Lake Macquarie we are safely home. Overall it has been a great trip and has given us a taste for more. The weather was disappointing, as was the fishing but we did see a lot of places and have added a lot on our to do list. After spending so much time in the camper in wet conditions we are serioulsy looking at upgrading to a more solid unit before we set off again. ... read more

Hi All, Well it looks like we are not meant to fish in the Tweed River. After sitting it out for a few wet days we gave up as the forecast was not good. We headed to Port Macquarie for the night and caught up with Bruce and Gwen Walker. The weather turned quite wild and the winds had caused some considerable damage on the way from Tweed to Port. We had to stop just south of Grafton as there was water on the highway and they were only lettting one lane through at a time. The wind had flatteded the cane fields and there was water everywhere in the paddocks and trees down all over the place. We are now at Largs which is just outside of Maitland and it is still raining. We are staying ... read more

Hi all, Apparently I haven't made it clear that the Fraser Island Photos are under the Fraser Island journal entry and not the entry for Photos at Last. We have been sitting here watching and listening to the rain falling. It has rained quite heavily since yesterday so we will have to sit it out here for a while until the camper dries out. We have not even been able to get the boat out yet so no fish photos. We might go and have a look at some campervans this afternoon just to fill in some time. Nick the National Geographics are a godsend. Well off to watch the rain falling. Love Maree ... read more

Sorry folks we had trouble getting the photos on for Fraser, but they are there now. We are now at Tweed Heads and when we got the camper up the rain came down. It is not too heavy though but we haven't been fishing yet. Hopefully next phot will be of the big fish that I caught. I am worried about John, they are selling Mazda BT50 4WD for $29990 on road up here so it is possible that we will come home in a new car. Cheers Maree and John... read more

Well we had two nights and three days on Fraser and thoroughly enjoyed it. Another thing to cross off our list of things to do before we die. We stayed at Eurong Beach resort which is on the East Coast with access straight onto the beach. It was incredible how many people were camping over there and how, on such a long stretch of beach the fishermen were all congregated in a 500 metre radius. Apparently the taylor were schooling at this particular spot. John did catch a nice trevally on his new beach rod but threw it back as we had no way of keeping it fresh. The beach is so clean and the sand is so fine. We didn't do a lot of travelling inland on the island as it was pretty rough but ... read more
