Nutshell advice Hi - thanks for the posting. I'm planning to go on the nutshell tour beginning in June and wanted to ask if you had problems carrying or moving around the beat-up suitcase? I'll have my backpack but wouldnt want to hike or constantly be keeping an eye on it. I'd be going from Oslo to Bergen on a day trip, or back the next day. Any advice for me? Did it cost around NOK 2 350?
Please email me if you can!
We're having Spwinter We, too, had couple of glorious Spring days last week, but it quickly turned very cold again. Yuck!
I knew The Shack was fiction going in, so I took it for what it was, & got from it what I could. Some intriguing images of the Trinity, but I can't say it was life-changing for me.
Have you read "Three Cups of Tea"? This is a TRUE and Amazing story of the difference one hard-driving man (Greg Mortenson) has made to the children (especially girls) in Pakistan & 'Ghan. Let me know; if you haven't read it I'll send it to you.
I, too want to send you a package. What do you need or want (that fits in a box)?
the smores cake sounds AWESOME. You'll have to make it for me when you're back Stateside. I pray that that will be soon.
Keep your spirits up! Everybody here is rooting for you!
Love & Hugs & Kisses,
Aunt Mad
Powdered eggs I agree Diann! YUCK! I think they're only intended for baking. I'm pretty sure that's what made the cupcakes taste funny, though. I might have to find another substitute for eggs in baking... Any suggestions?
Hi Hey Cuz,
You had me cracking up at the whole book fiasco when you found out it wasnt a true story. Sounds like you are doing OK and making the best of it. We all miss you and cant wait for you to get back here. I want to send a care package, so let me know what you need or want! BTW, what the hell is with powdered eggs????? YUCK!!!
Love you! Stay safe!!!
Looks like summer camp Great blog. love the pictures. Interesting that you're spending Lent in the desert/wilderness. So did Jesus, immediately after he was baptized by John the Baptist. And he was probably not too far from where you are now.
Glad you got a handle on the air sickness. The marathon looks like it was fun especially with the costumes. Must have been hot to run in them though.
Miss you and love you. Will have lasazna waiting for you when you come home.
Where is the Doc? Hey Nicole!
Miss you around here! Medical here at NR is just not the same! Drop a line and send snail mail address so I can send a few goodies!
Great blog! Love your blog, Nicole! I think it's terrific that you found sea monkeys, bubble wrap, and crocheting, and were moved to declare that you are re-discovering your forgotten and AWESOME youth! Too bad about the sucky preacher -- unfortunately there are way too many of them around. Hope you get a MUCH better one next. Don't worry about regrets 30 years from now -- you'll have them no matter what (the road not taken, etc, etc). It's just part of life and the blessing of having the FREEDOM TO CHOOSE (which you are so admirably defending for us all). Love you tons!
anncass99@aol.com Great blog, Niki. Love that you have some creature comforts. Good for you about not letting anyone tell you what you have to believe. You are a wonderful, strong, kind woman with integrity. And I love you.
Hey Nicole! Love your stories! You are certainly an energetic woman with many many many talents! The Dragon Tattoo books are awesome! Congrats on the PRK. I got lasik last year and I love it. Best of luck to your dad on the surgery. Wish him a speedy recovery!
Thanks! Thanks for the comment Marie! My mailing address is LT Nicole Cassler, VMM-264 Det A, Unit 77072, FPO, AE 09510-7072. As far as what in particular, I would say that any cookies/brownies definitely go fast. I would love some pictures though if you have any around! I don't have many pictures (actual physical pictures -- do people even make those anymore?) Thanks for thinking of me out here! I'll have to add Andrew to the list. Hope the weather starts turning better there. Looking forward to the next family picnic!
Long Blog ? NOT..... Hi Nikki,
The blog was very interesting, you said it was long but I thought it was very good. I felt like I visited you, thank you.
I've been waiting for you to settle in, I need you address. Beside the things you mention in your blog, cake mixes, ice cream cones, yarn, etc, is there anything you would like ? Let me know and a package will be on it's way.
I don't know if you have Andrew's e-mail , drdesaro@aol.com, I'm sure he would love to read them.
Our prays and thoughts are with you,
Love Ya,
Marie
brrrrrr..... Hi Nikki!
I hope you're settling in OK. I don't know if you've had any info about the weather back here in the US, but for most of the country, the temps are as bad as what you found in Manas! Here in NJ we've had a LOT of nights in the teens & lower. I think Mother Nature needs to check her maps -- this is NOT supposed to be the Arctic! We've also been getting walloped with 2 snowstorms a week on average. SHEESH! Spring can't come soon enough (at least Punxutawney Phil said it would come soon). It seems to be nice & mild in NC, though, especially by the coast.
I'm keeping you in my prayers & looking forward to reading more blogs.
Love You,
A Mad
Stay safe and warm!!! Don't get lost in those mountains. Missing you stateside! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever! Stay safe and come back soon. I'll get you a beer when you get back!
Lisa
Be careful what you wish for in Manas! Be careful what you wish for in Manas! When you say "wish I had another day to sit around and do nothing"...a flight will get cancelled and you might just get your wish!
Kilmainham Gaol The photos are very stirring for me as my Maternal GGgrandfather was a Convict who was Detained there From 1843 untill was transported to Van Deiman's Land. also My GGrandfather on my Fathers side was detaines there in 1848-1849 untill he was transported to PT Jackson Australia.( he Stole a cow so he could feed his family During the Famine.) so being able to see where they were Detained means a lot to me Thank you for letting me see the Photos. Regards Elaine
Loved your blog.. and can totally relate! I stumbled across your blog.. while searching for furniture stores in Fussa area (as we are moving offbase and have to get rid of most everything we own!! ) it was really fun to read, and was like I went through your day with you. I personally am not a train person, so I give you huge kudos for holding yourself together. That's one thing we LOVE about living in Japan... they are they most awesome people with the most amazing culture. so much so that we are retiring here, at least for the immediate future... at least 2 or 3 years. Glad you found your way and hopefully you'll get to return.. hey.. you already know your way around so why not!?
I stand at the door and knock I think I have a login now for your blog, so consider this a request knock to read about your adventures in Iraq.
Shave-and-a-haircut...Six-bits.
War is Hell, Nicole War is hell for some people. The rest of us just have to read about it: No Diet Root beer, occasionally no Vanilla Ice Cream for your Cherry Cobbler, do-it-yourself pedicures (Is nothing sacred?), substitute instructors at Abs Class, no certified Massage Therapists to help you recover from marathon training...the list of the horrors on this base could go on and on... but I promise I won't tell anyone how rough you have it. -- I'd hate to have them worrying about you.
When I was active duty Navy, I had many travel adventures. Now that I'm reserves and living the semi-civilian life, I hope to have many more!... full info
