(Once again, apologies for the lack of photos! This internet cafe hasn't got access to plug in the camera!) Friday we spent a fab day cycling around Stanley Park in Vancouver and we even managed to have our first relax of the holiday on the beach. This was topped off with a very quick dip in the Pacific Ocean! The following morning the coach picked us up for our trip to Vancouver Island via the BC Ferry. After a smooth crossing during which we saw more bald eagles and a few seals, we arrived at the bus station in Victoria. We were entertained by the Dragon Boat racing in the harbour that afternoon. The world is truly a small place and while having an iced coffee that afternoon, we met four people from the Lake District ... read more

Hi everyone We've had problems accessing the internet as been so busy doing exciting things!!!! (Where we are today we cant add photos as they are charging $5 for 15 mins so will do the best of them in an entry when we can.) We left Red Deer and drove to Banff via the Columbia Icefields - what can we say apart from the fact that the scenery was absolutely stunning and we only hope that the photos we took can do it justice. In Banff we took part in White Water Rafting, took the Gondola to the top of the mountain at sunset and also tried the hot springs. these had changed quite a lot from 1942 when Geoff visited them. We also visited Lake Louise and Moraine Lake two absolutely beautiful bodies of water. ... read more

We flew from Montreal to Calgary on Thurs 10th August and awoke at 5.30am to the news of the arrests in the UK of terrorist suspects. Even though we were flying internally it still sent a chill down your spine. We arrived at the airport expecting to have all lipsticks, hair gels etc taken from us (a woman's worst nightmare!) but only had to get rid of bottles of SOFT (!!) drink we were carrying. After 4 hours in the air we touched down at Calagary Airport and went to pick up our new hire car, a lovely grey ford focus estate! After a minor detour, we arrived at the hotel Delta Bow Valley over looking the river Bow and near to Louise Bridge (which we didn't see). Still on the trail for info about Geoff ... read more

We left Toronto at about 10.45am yesterday wth Di driving to go to Ottawa in our lovely blue HHR Chevvy We travelled down highway 401 leaving at Bellvile to take the even more beautiful route by the side of Lake Ontario passing Picton. (See photo) We then stopped at Kingston which was the capital of upper and lower Canada between 1841 and 1843. (Had to be done due to Lou's surname!!) After lunch by the Marina, (see photo) Lou took over the drive to go the remaing distance to Ottawa - using highway 416 which is the Vetarans ... read more
