Happy birthday Alex You'll never believe this. I just spent twenty minutes typing out what we did and why I haven't been in contact for the last few days, only to have the internet time run out and loose all my work . Any way we saw a bunch of monkeys on an Island and we had a good time, (Coles notes). Love you guys Ps Happy Birthday in advance Jay We are going to Cambodia in the AM and from there to bangkok and home on April 2or 3, not sure. Love dad.
Bangkok Hi Guys, how are you? We've done so much and seen a lot af stuff since I last got on here. I haven't heard anything from Mike though. Is he OK? We're in Viet nam in a town called Hoi an, which is in the central part of the country. I'm sorry we haven't got on here much, but there's good reason for that . We have been traveling at a whirlwind pace and when we do stop, it seems to be in all the wrong places for good internet conections to say the least. Elsie is updating the blog right now, which is much better than me cause I'm sure you can quite imagine how long this little note has taken me. We are going to the beach today after we make travel arrangments for our next stop which is Siem Reip in Cambodia. Angkor Wat is their main attraction, and then possibly Siagon Viet nam for a day via a Mekong river boat trip to the Mekong delta area, I don't know for sure though, we've already done a two day trip on the Mekong, but Elsie wants to see Siagon and the floating market there. If not, I suppose we'll may just find our way over to bangkok and then take a night train south to Krabbi for scuba diving and snorkeling lessons. Apparently there are some superb locations that we just can't miss, Ko Lantra and Ko Phi Phi, to name a couple. These places are nearly as crowded as Phuket and they are very ancious (cheap) to serve Tourists since the typhoon a couple of years ago. So check out the blog and well keep trying to stay in touch. Love Dad.
hanoi The both of us remember driving into Hanoi from the airport sharing the 'highway' with tons of trucks and water buffalo's! Check out the Dinh Lang restaurant close to the Hoan Kiem Lake great food and authentic music. Be sure to see the Water Puppets and of course you have to see Ho Chi Minh. 'Fun' crossing the roads eh, we live is such a protected society here in Canada. Love all your pictures. Perfume Pagoda is interesting with great photo opportunities along the river. Keep on trucking!
Beautiful Looks like a fantastic trip guys. Glad you're having the time of your lives. Seeing these photos has renewed our great debate of whether to travel more of Australia or hop over the pond to Thailand. After all, you can't lose with beer prices like that!
Elsie and I are going on the biggest trip of our lives, so far at least, to explore Indochina. We have always had a fascination for travel but so many other things have always taken front stage to this until now. So here we go. Wish us luck, cause were taking it day by day. Yup that's right no plans whatsoever. No itinerary no nothin, just our backpacks. Oh we do have our first night Hotel reserved in Bangkok and were armed with Rough Guides for Thailand and Moon Handbooks copy for Vietnam,Cambodia and Laos. ps. Were a couple of early fifty year old Western Canadians, so this should be a real ... full info
