Sir John Franklin

Thanks
Fascinating images of this truly remote location and with it the sad tale of its history.

Beluga

Wow!
I'm speechless.

Jealous
Your pictures are amazing and the stories are soooo romantic. Thanks for that great entertainment

Beluga

OH and who can't absolutely love a beluga! In the wild!

You had me at Arctic poppy....
Yikes, pant eating badlands! Stuff of horror movies. I like how you took the time to find beauty in the barren landscape and managed to hang onto your pants. Well done. Howsit for sleeping when the sun doesn't set?

midnight sun
I can sleep OK with the constant sunshine - it takes a few days to get used to though.

A Bulldozer
A great motto to live by: Walk softly and carry a big hammer. Enjoyed your blog (A Canadian in a bit warmer of a place!)

I like that Motto
Walk softly and carry a big hammer... I like it. Thanks for following my polar adventures

What a catch
Not a small one in those parts. Good eating. I love following your Artic adventures.

Very good eating
We had a limit of three fish per person, but we had no limit on how many we could release, so we just kept fishing. I caught about 40 fish in an hour and a half. It was quite the frenzy.

Giant fish and the Northwest Passage
Quite an adventure living up in the Arctic. I'd pass on the fish hearts and heads, but the thought of running on the once-mythical Northwest Passage and flying in the small Otter are thrilling!

Compare and Contrast
Kinda like Pangnirtung, but with fewer Teenage Mutant Nija Turtle bicycles and more large deceased mammal parts in the front yard.

There is remote and then there is Resolute Bay
You have a propensity for living and traveling in remote isolated parts of the world but seriously this one is unique. I'd love to see it....but for only a short period of time. So glad you were able to tackle the spoon situation. I'm not certain if it is sadder that someone is in love with his three spoons or that someone would take them. I'm intrigued by Grise Ford.

Three Little Spoons
I am not sure about Justin's affiliation with the spoons. He is a chef after all...

depressing
would love to visit but it's so depressing to imagine living there. great story

Getting to the Dozer

Nice photo
Just another day way up north.

Resolute
Keeping my atlas handy as I read your blog.... the good thing about dealing with a broken bulldozer in that part of the world is that you can work on it for a lot of hours and hours because the sun does not go down. So, relax and take your time. The plate was bent because people love to slap it around with that big hammer.

Getting to the Dozer

Gosh golly gumdrops--yeah, right!
Not being the least mechanical and disliking greasy, gross things, I was a bit aghast at the image of dripping sludge and bruised and cut bodies amidst howling winds--yikes, you're earning your Stilton! However, your ability to accomplish such a daunting task, acknowledge all the love-hate aspects of the work and see all the beauty around you undoubtedly make you the perfect guide for working with sometimes-difficult tourists. Excellent!

Stick with your adventure cruising job...
this sounds really hard! But I'm pleased you saw the humor in the situation.

I. Very Large Hammers
Not only do I like the fact that it is your number one tool but you need more than one. The most important lesson my father ever taught me about motor mechanics is if you cannot fix it with your hammer you need to get yourself a bigger one. As always a great blog.

Mapping your adventure
I had to grab the map to see where you were going. I'll keep it nearby for the next few blogs. Eager to read more about your isolated adventure. You always go to those amazing places. The Black Knight sounds like a great place to hang out.

Map Grabber
Maps are great tools - I love them. We could've easily found trouble in the Black Knight if we were so inclined - it has some interesting and colourful characters for sure. I'll be up in Nunavut until mid August, so I will be posting more blogs, with my sporadic internet connection.
