Hey to you too. : ) I liked it. It was really far from the city, so that was a pain. But the students were friendly, the native teachers were accepting, and then other English teachers (at that time) made me feel very welcoming and included me in a lot of things. The campus was a bit dingy, but it's not like you can't travel around and enjoy other areas. Hope you have a great teaching year!
Greetings Sorry to hear about your Grandma, she's at home with Jesus. I loved reading your blog. I'll try to check it more often to see what you are doing. Be well, be safe. God bless us all.
nice Hey Carla! This is so wonderful! It never occurs to me that there are less populated areas in China (I know, ignorance on my part). But these pics look so tranquil! I am totally envious of your bike rides around the island and under those big trees. sigh. Guess I'm stuck with all this snow and freezing temps! Keep posting, my friend! Love you!

Ha! I was lol'ing at the hair care product sign! What does it all mean???
Anyway, it looks like you are having a great time so far on your vacation. What an adventure you are on! You are going to be a different person when you come home!
Please keep posting! I love you!

Just a Swinging I would have been right there with you, remember the time at Wisconsin Dells waterpark on the zip line, I didn't make it 2 seconds! lol
Sentence? :( Hey Carla- so encouraged to see your face last night, even if it was a little pixel-y at times! Take every opportunity to see what you can while there! I hope you can get in some good sights during new year's break.
Sorry about the cold apartment. Just close your eyes and imagine you are back in our basement...Ahhh...and there's Chewy, puking on your carpet. Memories.... :)
Well, that's all for now. Sicker today than yesterday, but will be OK.
Love you!

Enjoyed reading about your adventure with Emmy & Sally! Hey Carla - it was great to read about your Puyang Lake adventure! I also like your style of writing. It brings your story to life! And the photos too. It looked like a beautiful day. You took some great photos, particularly the birds flying away! Very cool! Glad you are soaking in this place :)
Miss you! hey Carla! It's just not the same here without you! But I am truly entertained by all your posts. Sounds like you are having an interesting time, to say the least. I love that you are trying new foods. You are way braver than I would be. Fish in a can? No thanks. What an adventure you are on!
Meanwhile, we are watching the leaves fall and getting ready for Halloween with the kids. We had our campus costume party at the studio last Friday. I went as a conservative stereotype. Wait to see the pics on FB; they're funny. Can you message me your address on FB? The boys just got their school pics done, and I thought maybe you'd like to have a copy in your cute little Chinese apartment!
Love you!

Address.... Ok, this is as close as I could get to a school address from our school's foreign teacher aid. The phone number is so they can call someone who will let me know I have a package/card.

Halloween Stuff Hey Carla ~ I can take you to that crazy market we went to with Ashley and the girls. Ruth and I went this week and found a store that sells halloween stuff....very cheap compared to the normal stores. We just need to figure out a day b4 the 31st. Let me know. Have fun on your field trip tomorrow!!!
Halloween Stuff Sounds great! Us teachers were talking and it sounds like a Halloween party might be out of the question for English corner, but I'd like to decorate my classroom and maybe have a small party for some interested students. As for when we could go, I have all of Tuesday afternoon off if you're free then. : )
Hair clip No i didn't buy one. I wasn't a big shopper that night. We were mostly looking for stuff that the girls and Ashley would like since they were only there until Thur. I figure I can always go back with Camilla sometime.
Wow that claw machine... That is seriously funny. I am SOOO happy you have this blog! I get excited when I see you've posted something new.
Oh, last night, BTW, I was about to turn off the front room light when I thought, "But Carla isn't home yet..." and then I realized. Duh. You're in China. :( I miss you!
Anyway, the boys are good. Freddie keeps getting props at school for being so smart. Ev is being a great leader in his class since there are only 2 first grade boys (him being one of them). Freddie drew a family tree in school this week, and guess what! There were 6 people included. Freddie, Ev, Mama, Dada, Aunt Debbie, and Miss Carla! The boys miss you too...
My mom is coming to visit next week, which will be nice. And it's International Day at dcoc this Sunday which I LOVE! Maybe I should make some chinese food in your honor.
Well, that's about it for now. I need to have Ben help me figure out Skype so we can talk soon. I want to show you Freddie's picture.
Could you also email/FB message me your address there?
Love you!
Jen
The claw machine It's by the freshman dorms. It's a whole new area I hadn't seen before because it's so out of the way of the classrooms and the cafeterias I visit. I saw its pinkness and thought "oh how cute" and then I saw the inside and was like "omg... are they advertising cigarettes to little kids???" Oh China and it's general lack of inhibitions. ^_^
