Weather great Our Campground was about 10 miles from town and was passable. The one on the island was very crowded and over used. The first day we walked the beach. In the PM we visited he Turtle rehab center, then walked around millionaires row, finally we took the last tram tour of the day. The "cottages" were opulent. They have a bike trail that circles the island 18 miles long we only did part of it.... read more

It was a long drive up through Maine and across the boarder into Canada. As we arrived at Campbello, the summer home of the Roosevelts, it was pouring down rain. As we registered, the Ranger asked us if we would like to have Tea with Eleanor at 3 PM? We agreed and smiled not knowing what was to come? We toured the Visitors Center ...then made our way to the proper building hopping over puddles. We entered a lovely dining room all set for a formal tea for 16 people. Then an absolutely wonderful tea party began. The two guides alternated between serving and speaking about Eleanor. Eleanor was an absolutely astounding woman...well ahead of her time. The gals were full of information and stories. This was a a true highlight of our trip. The staff ... read more

. We are now in Maine. Just visited the LL Bean Store in Freeport, of course, we each found something to buy. The campground we are at for 2 nights is Wolf Neck Organic Farm, the campground is Recompence Campground.. No electricity and no on-site water hook-up, yet pricey? The campground is located on the coast of Maine. After a walk on the rocky beach, Kel biked around the organic farm to see the animals and volunteers. This is a not-for-profit organization? Back on highway 1, we enjoyed a lobster for Kel and clams for Bob. We also stopped at a new brewery and chocolate shop. Yum.... read more
