There's a voice that keeps on calling me
Down the road, that's where I'll always be.
Every stop I make, I make a new friend,
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down,
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

It's been a while. Lol I spent my last few days in Bangkok doing nothing much out of the ordinary. I visited some temples and also visited the gargantuan MBK shopping centre. I must say that although I was impressed by the size of MBK to me it was just another shopping centre. I think this may be a gender thing lol. I had originally planned to stay in Bangkok till the Friday so I could go to the Linkin Park gig but by Tuesday I craved some beach time and so booked a bus and ferry combo to Koh Tao. The bus left Khao San Road at 9pm and I was pleasantly surprised that it was nice, clean and comfortable. We arrived at Chumphon pier at about 5am and sat about like zombies awaiting the ... read more

Today was a good day. I awoke at 6am for my 7am pick up from the hotel. After picking up some more people and changing minivans a few times we set off on the 2 hour drive to Kanchanaburi. I got chatting to a cool guy from New Zealand who had lived in Edinburgh for a couple of years. He even knew what Buckfast was and helped me explain its "tonic" properties to a nice Canadian couple. lol After a few hours we arrived at the site of the Bridge over the River Kwai. The bridge itself is lovely (can you say that about a bridge?) and there is a little War Museum nearby. I made my way across the bridge weaving through the myriad of people getting their pictures taken and found that there wasn't ... read more

Thursday was a long day. My flight to Dubai wasn't that bad despite sitting in a really crap seat. We landed in Dubai at about 1am and it was 34Celsius. How can it be that hot in the middle of the night? I boarded the flight from Dubai to Bangkok and was pretty happy that I had a good seat and it looked like I might get all 3 seats to myself. Wrong. Just before take off two older English guys came aboard to burst my bubble. I was particularly delighted that the guy sitting next to me absolutely ponged (I'm being kind, he stank like an old tramp) of stale alcohol. Better was yet to come when shortly after take off (about 3 seconds) he fell into a comatose slumber and began snoring and making ... read more

I'm in Bangkok baby. 6647 miles in 17 hours but finally I made it. The hotel is fantastic and I'm only a 5 minute walk away from Khao San Road. I'm totally shattered now, so I'm off for a little power nap then a few Changs later. I'll write a more in depth blog over the next few days.... read more

Just a wee tester to make sure this works Well, its only about 4 weeks till I leave. I'm just finalising a few things before I go. One more Rabies jab to go, although I'm getting quite used to these jabs what with the million or so I've had in the last four weeks. I'm now immune to EVERYTHING. I dont really have an itinerary, but I do have thoughts on places, cultures and hopefully sources of inspiration that I would like to experience. Only time will tell where this adventure takes me and what I might learn from it, but I do know that I wont find the inspiration I seek, perhaps even need, if I dont start looking. Leg 1 Glasgow to Dubai, Dubai to Bangkok, spend a few days in BK then catch ... read more
