Heading on up the Northeast trail in Tassie Waited in the early morning sun for the frost to dry on the canvas chateau before we could pack her up. Then said our farewells to our top little authentic Easter stay in Dover by the sea, where we had real rabbits running all around our camp, day and night. And then began our sunny drive up through the Huon valley, passing all the coastal shackies (Tassie for weekender or batch to the Kiwi’s) and the flourishing orchards, offering large bags of crisp, juicy apples for only $2 !! Here we are again into the second month of our Tassie adventure. Our last day camping back at Seven Mile beach, (just out of Hobart), we awoke to an exceptional clear blue sky day 26deg, (such a joy in between the cold and not so blue ones), so what better way to begin the day than with a long leisurely walk along the beach, taking photo’s, collecting shells, -some for our beautiful little granddaughter Lucille and one special one for our Godchild, Laura, for her birthday, later in the month. Rest of the day was spent doing chores, packing away all our goodies from Salamanca, 2 loads of washing, topping up our groceries and making 3 varieties of healthy soups to top up the freezer supplies, for on some of the cooler days ahead. So you’ve been wonderin if us little Tassie devils were lost in The Wilderness or one of the old penitentiaries, no such luck, we’ve just been having such a good time, so there’s been no time for any bloggin, but here we are at last, half way thru our current journey, better than never! Yes, Bald and Blonde are “On the road again” and this time off to -The South Island of Australia - Tasmania for 2 glorious months in the cruiser and Cyt, our beloved little snail home and with our wonderful mate Barb. DUE TO A DELAYED FLIGHT OUT OF ANCHORAGE, WE DIDN’T HIT REVY AND CHEVY UNTIL ABOUT 7PM BUT AS IT STAYS LIGHT UP THIS WAY TILL ABOUT 9-10PM, WE STILL HIT THE 3 HOUR DRIVE FOR WHISTLER. OUR THREE SUNNY DAYS IN WHISTLER, WE SPENT RESTING FROM THE ALASKA TRIP, CLEANING OUR CLOBBER FOR THE NEXT STAGE OF OUR JOURNEY AND SOAKING UP THE SUMMER ATMOSPHERE OF CANADA’S NO 1 SKI RESORT. WE WERE LIKE 2 KIDS GOING INTO A CANDY STORE, -------------OUR FIRST EVER CRUISE, AND THAT MEAN’T - NO DRIVING,- NO DISHES AND THE BED MADE EVERY DAY -------FOR A WHOLE WEEK,--------- YAHOOO!!!!!! VANCOUVER BRITISH COLUMBIA - A VIBRANT METROPOLIS WITH A MULTICULTURAL POPULATION OF 2 MILL PLUS, 3RD LARGEST IN CANADA AFTER TORONTO AND MONTREAL. IT IS SURROUNDED BY TOWERING MOUNTAINS AND CRADLED IN AMONGST BOTH A BEAUTIFUL AND WORKING, AND IN SOME PARTS QUITE INDUSTRIAL, HARBOUR. THE HARBOUR RIDES AND GLIMPSES SOAKED US IN, FELT A BIT LIKE HOME. AMERICAN AIRLINES LANDED US ON THE WEST COAST. WE THEN HEADED TO OUR FAVOURITE RENTAL CAR COMPANY, DID THE DEEDS AND THEN BEGAN TO MOTOR SOUTH EAST TO BAKERSFIELD, TO OUR DEAR REVY AND THE CHEVY. THIS LITTLE TRIP, WE GOT QUITE BRAVE AND DID MINUS OUR LITTLE BARB (GPS) AS WE FELT WE NOW KNOW THIS SIDE FROM LAST YEARS TRIPPING AROUND AND IT WAS TUCKED IN THE RV WAITING FOR US. ARRIVED IN BAKERSFIELD AND HEADED STRAIGHT TO THE STORAGE TO SEE HOW OUR USA HOME AND TRUCK HAD SURVIVED 7 MONTHS IN THE CALIFORNIAN SUN.
