We had to wake up early to have breakfast, because Dad had planned a long day of sightseeing. We went down and had breakfast again, and again it was croissants and baggetes. Dad got himself a boiled egg and a piece of French Toast extra, but I chose not to, instead going upstairs to have a shower and get changed. It was a hot day in Paris, because the Paris summer Sun is hotter than the English summer sun. We went downstairs and towards the train station, where we mixed into the peak hour commute and made our way to Trocadero, the station near the Eiffel Tour. We had been there the previous night after the football crowd had been through, leaving all of the rubbish. Less than 8 hours later, it was almost all cleaned, ... read more

We were both tired after our first night in Paris but after sleeping in the hotel beds, we were refreshed and ready for the next morning. Both of us had showers, before we went downstairs for breakfast. Unlike the hostel that we stayed at in London, which had get your own cereal and toast, the hotel had a more cafe style, where you sit down and your breakfast is brought to you. We had a croissant each and a baggette each, with strawberry jam in both. The croissant was nice and I wanted more, but we weren't allowed any. We went back upstairs and got our stuff, cameras, water and whatever else we needed, and went out to the local metro station, but Dad got distracted when I saw two French Fire Engines parked on a ... read more

The day started early for me, but I stayed in bed for a while waiting for Dad to wake up. After he did, I headed downstairs with the computer and published yesterdays blog. Very soon, Dad joined me and we had breakfast, more cereal and toast. I was in a rush to update yesterdays photos, and, because the Wifi acess was only downstairs, we had to take it in turns to watch the computer to make sure nobody stole it. I went up, got changed and had a shower, before joining Dad put the bags in the Luggage room, before we went out to the bus stop. Because we didn't have a day pass, we had to by the tickets on the bus. Dad offered a 10 pound note but the driver said that she didn't ... read more

The day started slowly with a shower while our roommates were still sleeping. We made our way downstairs for breakfast, which my brother Tim would have loved. All you can eat, but cereal and toast only. I think that I had at least 4 bowls of cereal and 2 pieces of toast. Dad went upstairs again while I stayed down on the computer. He came down to say that we had to leave to Shakespeares Globe Theatre. We only had the small bag, not the backpack, becuase we didn't have that many things to take with us. When we were outside, our bus, the 63 was late, so when it did arrive, we were very relieved, thinking that we would have missed the tour. But when we did arrive, the path that goes straight from the ... read more

Day 2 started where Day 1 left off, probably because we hadn't slept yet. From dinner we made our way to the A block of the departure terminal in Singapore Airport. The plane was boarded in groups of about 10 seat rows, so we had to wait until our seats were called out. This was because we were flying on an Airbus A380, which has two decks and really really posh business and first class. Of course we couldn't afford those so we were just in the economy class which wasn't bad. I had planned to watch Avatar before I went to sleep but they weren't showing it on that flight so I tried to sleep. By trying to sleep I mean going to sleep for 45 minutes at a time and waking up again for ... read more

It is finally here. After many years of waiting and planning, we are finally off, to Europe. I woke up early, for the last time in my bed for 25 days. I ate my last bowl of weetbix for 25 days and organized the final things that I needed to pack. We were to drive to Uncle Freds and Auntie Babaras to leave Nanas car, which was with us, then Mum would drive us the rest of the way to the airport, which is only 5 minutes. We said goodbye to Tim and Shadow, leaving them on the veranda as we drove off to the airport. When we arrived, we found the Singapore Airlines queue and joined it, but then after 20 or so minutes we realised that because we had printed our tickets already online ... read more

It was quite sad, having to say goodbye to everybody before a 3 week holiday. At school, everybody organized a farewell party for me at recess which I found quite nice. Everbody had signed a card, with comments wishing me good luck, and NO I WILL NOT DIE WHILE I AM OVER THERE. Aidan wasn't at school, so I rang him on his dad's mobile to say goodbye to him. Then throughout the last 2 lessons of the day I was wishing good luck to people because I didnt know when I was going to see them again. It turns out that I didn't say goodbye to a number of people, most notably Amy because I thought she would be at astronomy but she wasn't, so GOODBYE AMY! Leaving astronomy last night though was hard because ... read more

It is getting close now. Less than 2 days. We have spent the evening packing bags and sorting clothes and working out what we want to take. Dad has filled out his outgoing passenger card but I haven't got mine yet so I can't fill it out yet. I have recieved an e-mail from Nana. She says that she is in Edinburgh en route Inverness and The Orkneys. She says that it is very warm, but she reckons that it will be cooler int he north. We will hear more of what she has done and her stories later on, and I will publish that as a separate blog entry, but untill we hear more from her when we are in the Netherlands, and when we meet up with her. We are still looking at what ... read more

We are still looking at preperations for our trip, which is only 6 days away. Nana is now touring around Scotland and we are sure that she is having a good time. However, back here in Australia, we have encountered some logistical difficulties in our planning of our time. Our trip to see the prolouge of the Tour de France has encountered some difficulties after we found out that the event starts at 4:15 in the afternoon, and goes until 8, which would mean we get to the north of the country by 10 pm which is very late. We have also continued working out how we are going to spend time in London, especially on the first day. Mum and Dad also went into town today and bought some clothes that should suit the European ... read more

As we count down the days before we depart, we have to continue our preperations, today most of which involved the internet. Online, we booked our hostels in London, Paris and Amsterdam, and checked out train times and flight times. We checked out where we wanted to go and booked a 'flight' on the London Eye. It is called a flight because it is owned by British Airways and they like labelling stuff like that. We have been contemplating the logistics of our arrival in London, and hoping that it will all go to plan, even if we do arrive at 5.55 in the morning. Dad also booked a night in a hostel in Amsterdam which is a 16 bed boarding house, which I am not particularly looking forward to. It is booked now, so I ... read more
