Enjoy your first day back on the bike tomorrow!! Sounds as though Dunhuang has been an interesting city - especially with the camels! How was the wine??? Hope you managed to have a more tastier meal tonight!! Glad you got the paw paw - that will definitely come in handy! xx
Wine Well it was Pinot and not my favourite, but it had the thinner taste of Pinot, was good colour if not a little lighter in colour depth, had a reasonable bouquet, and after the initial taste when you craved cheese, it was reasonable to drink without headache. Served in a tall, rounded glass it tasted excellent. I believe it equalled pintos consumed at home. But remember it is not my favourite red wine. The other red available was a cab sav, but it was twice the price. So wine in a bar is expensive when compared to local earning power.
Great to see some photos!! Campsite definitely looks as though it was in the middle of no where - can't believe how cold it has been getting! Hope you are a feeling better - don't push yourself with the riding though!! xx
Dig Deep Rog I've just caught up on the latest and so sorry to hear of this, but happy for you that the prognosis is good, and 5 days you should be back on the bike. This is stuff made for documentaries, and reality TV, but it would be better if it was some unknown actor/participant, not the one and only Roger Keith Hesford! Dig deep Roger - you've got amazing reserves to draw upon. Best wishes, A,B,M&A xxx (and Bella - woof).
treacherous ride Wow, I'm glad to hear u will be fine tho. Don't think I'll tell mum this one! !!So sorry for oother rider Yol. .hope she will be ok and try again later. Am enjoying ur posts immensely. Be safe xx B
Well Earned Rest Day Roger,
I did like your comment about not realising how tired you were after getting up at 4.30 each day and cycling 125K - quite frankly if it were me I would have collapsed. Happy Camping! Peter
Thanks I'll try to continue. Easy loading on blog than Instagram for some reason. You make sure u take some ice ones in Melbourne this weekend. Have fun down there, take some warm clothes. Dxx
Update Have caught up with your blogs sitting in the garden having a cup of tea. May go for a gentle 25 mile cycle later. What with the heat , hills , dust , winds , food , accommodation , pedestrians and distances I think you are doing incredibly well . The places you are cycling through must be giving you a real insight into the country. Amazing .
Response Hi P, what it has made me think is that we are so lucky to live where we do. Have seen nothing so far which we could encourage to relocate! The beer is refreshing though. Surprisingly tea is not served at meals with any regularity. Have thought on the hills that you would scoot up them remembering Sri Lanka. Apparently the hills begin in Ernest shortly, as does the camping. Cheers roger
