California Los Angeles 23rd September 2010 We arrived in Los Angeles, I’ve really been looking forward to this, California is somewhere I wanted to visit for a long time and here I am! We arrived at 5.00am and had a good sleep until midday, the place we’re staying is lovely, clean, big bed and flat screen on the wall - i’m happy! Today we got a bus and headed down to Hollywood (we’re about 5minutes away in the car). We had to get change for the bus so we went into a little newsagent shop, a clear sign that the place is dodgy, is when the lady behind the till is surrounded by a plastic screen, we got our change and left asap! North Island Wellington 5th September Today is a special day, its mine and ste’s 7 year anniversary!! Unfortunately its not the most exciting day because we will spend most of it travelling to the north island I think a non-budget nice meal and glass of wine would mark the event nicely. Again today was started nice and early, 7.00am and we were awake and getting ready to hit the road, we had a 1 and half hour drive ahead of us to get to Picton and that’s were the Ferry (Interlander) leaves. Living in Sydney February - August 2010 Well living in Sydney has been amazing! I don’t know were to start, the entire 6months has been a brand new and exciting experience! Although it has come to an abrupt end, I’m not sad but grateful for having the opportunity to live on the other side of the world. I havn’t just visited Australia, Ive travelled to Western Australia (Perth), Melbourne, down the east coast, and finally Sydney. I have also worked here, lived here, ate here, made Australian friends and spoke the language (although you may think its English, its a bit more complicated than that), and fitted into the culture. Its been a long time since we've been to brisbane, noosa and surfers, but I thought Id give you a quick summary of how it went, just to keep you informed of the trip. Brisbane we stayed in a hostel (just cant remember the name of it), it was the worse hostel we stayed in. the room was full of people living there long term and they were so unpleasant! But the thing that really freaked me out was that there was no side of the edge of the top bunk, to stop me rolling off! And also someone robbed my pillow, ok they all sound like little things, but isnt it the little things in life that keep us happy!! Rockhampton 18th January, we stoped here just for one night to break up the 10hour bus journey. We stayed at downtown hostel, it was grand, very homey like. It was a big town, but had a strange isolated feeling from it. Anyway we had a noodle take away and watched a film with a few others. It was an early night cause we were up at 5.30am for the 6.00am bus. Town of 1770 19th January, we stayed here in cool bananas hostel for 2nights. This place was really nice, totally relaxed and chilled out. It was so relaxed we didn’t even get a room key cause no one locked there doors, or even shut them!
