wow, arieli, really powerful stuff
this photos are incredible, did you take them all? you know you're so artsy sometimes it makes my heart hurt, because i'm jealous, and also strive to be exactly like you in every way, which is why i'm exlusively wearing your clothes and nothing else in this period of your absence, even your undies :-) naaahhhh, just kidding. i love how well you can internalize all of the problems of the women around you and have a true empathy for everything. it's good that sambhali trust is giving these women a community, a network of strong independent women. amazing things will always come from a group of women with their heads together. i love you!

Don't be too sure about the bugs
I was just listening to NPR and they interviewed a man who was in NYC and looked around him and every person in his visual field was staring into a hand-held device. So he wrote a book on technology and leisure - Seneca in ancient Rome complained about how the technology and paperwork of his time were keeping him from enjoying hte natural world. Nothing new under the sun. Mom gets that, and it is why she is always pushing me to take walks with her. As for bugs, Atlanta has its share, if our new house is any indication. Love, Dad

heavenly
Ariel, you really are having the journey of a lifetime. I love reading your entries, especially your description of the desert at night. Let me know if you meet the Little Prince or happen to find a drawing of his rose. I'm not sure 'demounted' is a word. I love you, E

Dung Beetles and co.
My dear, there is a good deal of insect lore in your entries: ants, beetles. It is like a discovery of life from the greatest to the smallest. Love reading about it. Hope you enjoyed the mango shake.

ouch
Not exactly an advertisement for a vacation in India. There must be some natural way to keep the ants away from your room... maybe basil oil or borax or ??? In the meantime, here's a little light ant reading: http://www.antweb.org/india.jsp Can you posts some pictures of yourself with your dot? I'd love to see what you dress like there. Xo E

Namaste
Dear Ariel -- all of life seems to be teeming there with industry, from ants to humans -- perhaps you'll finally learn how to sew! I'm sending along one of my favorite inspirational poems -- it seems especially suited for the Harijan. Much love, Mom Our deepest fear is not That we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we Are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our Darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small Does not service the world. There is nothing Enlightened about shrinking so that other people Won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to manifest that glory that is within us. And as we let our light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the Same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. Marianne Williamson As read by Nelson Mandela 1994 Inaugural Speech

New family
Glad you like the family you are staying with - it will make the experience so much more enjoyable. I am sure you will come up with exciting and meaningful activities for the women to do. As for the ants and geckos, they will become like family as well. Just don't come home with them. Love, Dad

You are AWESOME!
Hi Kiddo! Wow, I am so in awe of you and your sister. You guys are both living incredibly rich and exciting lives, reaching out to help others (turtles included) in every nook of the planet. Knowing what you are doing fills my heart with so much pride. Get yourself some salt tablets if you can, sweating and drinking all that water depletes your electrolytes. Sending you much love from across the globe. Always, E

Great to hear
Sounds like you are already immersed in the culture of the place. The heat sounds difficult to bear, but you are right that after a while you will become more used to it. The food sounds delicious, I wish i could try it. Let us know where you end up staying. Love, Dad
