Great information and helpful tips, Thank you! I'm in Loja getting ready to visit Peru and I was looking for easy way to enter Peru.
Thanks for writing such great info and tips on how to survive the trip.
I've been visiting Ecuador now for more then a week and half, and to say that I love Ecuador will be an understatement, Cuenca, Vilcabamba are one of my favorite places.
Cheers
On the Road Again! It was great to hear that you got some R&R in Sucre. What a beautiful place to stay. Have a great time, I am so jealous!!! Stay safe!
Thanks It was great to hear from you. We did get a lot of rest and are ready for the road again. Just pulled into a small border town in Chile and will head on over to Salta, Argentina tomorrow. Anyway, if you can escape at anytime, remember you are always welcome to rendezvous with us. Hope all is well with you and your family. Love always.
So Midlife was that bad huh? Hi Stranger! I've been wanting to find out what you have been up to on your travels and so I called the office and they gave me this blog. I think it is great and good for both you and Amei for living your life's dream. I plan on keeping in touch. :) You both take care and keep having fun.
Great to Hear From You Wow, what a surprise and thanks so much for your kind words. We are now resting and relaxing in Bolivia for over a month. We got an apartment in order to sleep in and cook our own meals. Next month we will be on the road again heading to Argentina. I hope all is well with your family, please stay in touch for it's always a pleasure to hear from friends back home and take care.
Diarrhea I'm sorry you're sick. Yuk. Think of it as building up your immune system!!! Amei is Chinese, her gut is hardened!!! I hope you feel better. I love your blogs!!! Stay well. Why don't you take a month off from travel and stay in one place for a while. You can rest up and plan for a while. Find a place that deserves a longer stay, and hang out for a while. You'll get some much needed rest!!!
In One Place You think like we do. After that sickness, we choose to stay for one month in Sucre. We've been here now for more than three weeks, hanging out, resting and relaxing in a nice comfy apartment. Home cooking, getting to know locals and enjoying one spot has made a big difference. And yes, I agree with you about Amei's stomach. However her head is even harder. Love, Paul and Amei.
Machu Picchu It's even more amazing in person. Machu Picchu lives up to the hype. Get there early morning for the clouds add mystery and beauty, less crowds also. Have a wonderful time.
Machu Picchu I loved to read Connie's blog, sorry about the sickness, I did that too!!! I see that she is a chip off the old blog, with her style of writing and her love of travel, and her parents. I'm so glad you got to Machu Picchu, such an incredible place. Stay safe!
Connie's Blog Cute comment about that chip off the old blog. One day we will have to get together and share notes on world travel. Machu Picchu was amazing. Thanks for the kind comments and love always.
Peru Ok, I fell in love with Peru and only saw a snippet of the country. Here are my Peruvian contacts. Marco Bustamate runs tour company called Peruvian Odyssey. His email is marcob@peruvianodyssey.com and he will remember me as a member of the Pete Smith group that came for Inca Trail trip this last May. Also, our guide's name is Fernando. He lives in Aguas Calientes and his email is Hatunchako@hotmail.com. I love reading your blogs! Stay safe. Keep your valuables CLOSE and in eye sight at all times. 2 strikes already!!!!
Huaraz Hi Kathy,
We're falling in love with Peru too. We are up in the Cordillera Blanca, second highest mountain range in the world. The scenery is spectacular, the Indians mellow, warm and welcoming. I can see why you love Peru. Amei and I are dead. We just got back from a 26 mile trek, four days, that included a mountain pass at almost 16,000 feet. The peaks we slept under topped over 20,000 feet. Anyway, when I recover I'll tell you more. Thanks for the contacts. We'll be in Cusco in about a week. Love always.
Traveling fool!!! Ok, from one world traveler to another...what were you thinking??? I NEVER have my wallet, valuables etc off of my body, especially while sleeping. You tuck it down the pants my friend!!!
I am glad that the theft was not worse and I hope Amei is feeling better, and stronger. I hate being sick while traveling.
I so enjoy your blogs. Stay safe. XOXO to you both!!!
How Right you Are Yeah, I agree. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. Maybe the high altitude drugged my decision making. Anyway, everything from here on is on my body. They'll have to strip me if they want anything, and at my age they'll sure get a shocking sight.
Greetings from Peru I just caught up on your last 3 entries. I love reading your blogs. I am writing from Cusco on my last day of a fantastic vacation adventure. We hiked the Inca Trail 4 days, but really had about 6 days of strenuous hiking. I have fallen in love with Peru. Let me know when you are arriving in Peru, since I have contacts and recommendations for Cusco and Machupicchu if you plan on going there. Safe travels my friend.
Greetings from Costa Rica Hi Kathlyn,
Great to hear you had a wonderful trip to Peru. Next time maybe we can synchronize are arrivals. We are heading there and will arrive maybe in a month or two. I'll look forward to your advice, especially if you know a less strenuous route, just kidding, bring it on and have a safe trip home. Love always, Paul & Amei.
It was always in the back of our minds. To travel the world and to see as much of it as money, time and health would allow. Traveling the world would stay on hold as we raised two wonderful and responsible kids. Now that both our children are out of the house, we seized the opportunity to hit the road.
