Halong Bay It's a stunning landscape / seascape but so sad that tourism in the area hasn't been managed better. We were there in March and had grey skies the entire time - so it's nice to see it with blue skies. I laughed when I read your itinerary, it was exactly what we did... with the exception that we didn't learn to make the edible decorations, but had a big night of drinking and karaoke on the boat that night. And no one wanted to swim on the second day after we saw a headless dog float past :/
Yes they are Yes, they are smaller than us, but not that small. I am not sure exactly why they had such ridiculously small chairs there. Possibly because they wanted people to have at least something to sit on but still wanted them to be easily removed when that was necessary. /Ake
Keep an eye out for the next blog entry In our next blog entry we will tell you about two top sight in the north. If what we told you about Hanoi wasn't enough to make it worth doing a trip there thoser two might. /Ake
Hmong village and more Thank you guys again for showing a part of the world with your unique curious and humorous perspective. Always enjoy the learning!
Plain of Jars I'm very intrigued by this place, and I think your theory about the fewer lids could work... especially if the lids were only used for part of the process, and the bones continued to be stored in the jars for a longer period. Possibly if air circulation or sunlight to bleach the bones was part of the process? I will definitely be putting this place on our itinerary when we make it to Laos!
It is a very interesting place The Plain of Jars is a very fascinating and if you visit Laos you should definitely go there. Easily top three of all sites in Laos. /Ake
We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
Angel Falls in Ven... full info
