Our last stop on the North Island was Wellington, New Zealand's Capital City. To be honest Wellington is on the tour just a stopover before we catch the ferry to the South Island, so it was really a quick tour of the area. What l can tell you is that it had the feeling of Cape Town with its harbours and fantastic homes perched on the hills that surround the Capital. We even got time to drive up to the highest point to look at the 360 degree views. Wellington - New Zealand's 3rd Capital City The earliest name for Wellington, from Maori legend, is Te Upoko o te Ika a Maui. In Maori it means ‘the head of Maui's fish’. Caught and pulled to the surface by Polynesian navigator Maui, the fish became the North ... read more

So back on the fun bus after breakfast for the longest drive (Hopefully) on this North Island to South Island trip. Day 1 & 2 So my first adventure to Australia has come to an end and l left the fun city on Thursday morning to catch a flight from the airport to Auckland, but not before being fleeced for $100 for being overweight with my luggage even though many of the less money grabbing airlines had let me off beforehand. So a big thank you to Qantas and the hard nose cow that worked on the check-in desk for helping me lighten my wallet. The 2 ½ hour flight took me over two time zones and l finally arrived at my hotel for the night just after 6pm, so a quick flight actually took the whole day from start to finish. I had booked myself into the hotel that my new tour would start in ... read more

How lucky am I!!! When l booked this round-the-world adventure by pure luck it so happened to be Mardi Gras the day after l arrived in Sydney. As like most Gay Men from around the world it’s a dream to be able to attend this famous event. So whilst l was in Thailand l managed to get hold of some very sort after tickets to watch to parade in the comfort of a special Grandstand which included Food, Champagne and Beers, also the best part was, it was all for charity. Bobby Goldsmith The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation is Australia's oldest HIV charitable organisation; it is named after the first man to have died of HIV/AIDS in Australia. Established by a dedicated group of Bobby Goldsmith's friends in 1984, the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation has helped thousands ... read more

Yet again l am up at supid o'clock (2.45am) to catch a 2 hour flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, then a 44 seater ATR72 aircraft to take the hour long flight to the island. I would have never thought about seeing this island if it wasn't for Fabian & Cornellia that l had met in Goa and spent time with travelling Kerela. So before l continue l'd like to thank them for a fantastic 3 days in paradise. The island is situated in the renowned Gulf of Thailand. Off shore fishing is a lucrative industry and local islanders tend to have higher standards of living than their counterparts on the mainland. People are therefore generally relatively well off and happy not to demand anything from passing foreigners. Instead they will welcome them with ... read more

We spend our last night together having another great meal and also celebrate Paul's up-and-coming 21st Birthday. Then one by one the group leaves Vietnam on their next leg of their journey, either to other parts of the country, other lands or back home. Thanks for a great couple of weeks guys!!! Goodbye and hopefully we will meet again soon Paul & Allison, Bob & Karen, Bernie & Cynthia, Rose & Colin, (See you all in OZ) Karen & Linda (See you in San Francisco) and last by no means least Cheryl ... read more

Another of life’s dreams that l can tick off the list Every since l saw a picture in a geography book in school about 30 years ago l have also wanted to see Halong Bay. It always gave me a sense of mystery from a land far, far way especially for a child for 10 years old. So today when l awoke l couldn’t wait to see this for real. We leave our hotel in Hanoi at about 7am and take the 4 hour drive. After 8 months of travelling the early mornings still don't get any easier, and within minutes I’m asleep at the back of the coach. When l awoke the scenery had changes from the city madness for tall buildings and thousands of motorbikes to rolling green hills, large lakes and fisherman’s ... read more
