Errors
In the interests of clarity, I'd like to fix a few errors my sister posted 1. The "dots" on the shirts: Frankly, there is just no other way to distinguish between the Zombies and the Werewolves. The dots just do the trick. 2. "Wearing something around your neck". Ever hear of a "necktie party"? I guess you didn't hear about the convictions. We'll miss you guys. 3. Is it hard to get train reservations? This is a made-up question. She posted it to brag about her abilities to get along in Italian. In, fact, I think she really does understand. Well done, Jeannie! Ciao, Baby! Pastafazool!! 4. Driving in Italy is EXACTLY as difficult as driving in California: Brakes on the left, gas on the right. Same-o, same-o. 5. Packing for 10 weeks in a duffle bag: C'MON!!! If you have any idea the cost of the trip you will know intuitively that she had to sell everything else. One thing you can say about poverty -- it's damn convenient!!! I'm starving. When are you coming home? Little Shale misses you! Love, Linda

Speaking Italian
You're right Connie, in the bigger cities, more folks speak italian but in the villiages like Colonnella, Giulianova and even here in Tuscany not many people speak English...maybe a few words, but not much. I must say that my Italian has improved from nothing basically to where we can get around. In the evenings the father of the owner of this Agriturissimo, Luciano who is 70 comes to the door about 10:30 at night and knocks and asks everyone to come out and have "grappa" with him in the courtyard ;-) I can speak enough Italian to let him know that we appreciate the invite but....we're sleeping! Connie, you and Larry would love it at Cretaiole. I'll tell you more and show you pics when we return.

How's your Italian?
I'm in awe of the trains, planes, buses, etc. Not that many people speak English in Italy! Your Tuscan interlude looks absolutely delicious in so many ways. Have a wonderful week. Bongiourno.

The well
You didn't say if the ancient well was functioning. Did you drink from it? The land does look beautiful. When you're in Salzburg be sure you visit the Tomb of the Unknown Composer. Glad you're having a good time. Do you weigh 300 yet??

Restaurants in Venice
Hi Connie, as to your question about restaurants in Venice, unfortunately we are not the folks to ask ;-) I'm afraid our dining has been limited to pasta and baguettes at small places that are very touristy. Which makes sense since we've been trying to get in all the "must sees" in 3 days. I'd suggest getting our your Zagat guide and you can let us know where to go next time!

La Serenissima
Love that city and know you will too. Let us know if you find any special restaurants, etc. We'll be there for 4 days in September. Ciao!

Is that a postcard?
That picture from your bedroom window is so perfect, it looks like a postcard. 3 days isn't enough.

operas and gondolas
Hi Jean and Cope, Wow your trip sounds so fantastic! On the note operas and gondolas, Max took Alexis out on a gondola on the Naples (CA) canal two days ago, and under the 4th bridge he got on his knee and put the ring on her finger. I am here in LB for the Memorial Day weekend with them. Continued safe travels!

Wonderful Greek Food
Isn't Greek food just the best? Our cruise stops as Corfu as well; can't wait. You had a nice blog on Mykonos, but I wonder did you also go to Santorini? We only stopped at Santorini last cruise but it was one of the best and most memorable shore excursions of the trip. Have fun ... and keep writing. We just love to read about your adventures.

Venice
Diane and Janet will be in Venice at the same time as you. They leave there for home on the 31st, have also been touring the Greek isles, Diane giving talks along the way. Safe travels, all. Love, Sandy

Kitties?
I hope the kitties aren't starving strays. If they are, put them in your bag and bring them to me. And if the fresh vegetables look REALLY good, bring me some of them, too. I feel like I'm shopping on-line! And some of that beautiful jewelry and clothing would be nice too. Something colorful~ I'm not picky. Where are you going next?

120 crummy steps? WIMPS!! I guess you have fogotten the 14 million steps to Sacre Coeur! And you did THAT unaided (though we did gripe). The picture is terrific, I can't take my eyes off it! Carry on!- Love, Linda
