V. nice sleeper train to shanghai, cost a bit and haven't seen comfort like it since! Got a hostel in a good location here - shuyuan hostel. Very nice spot, big, clean, good internet connection, and all that but best of all it had a table tennis table!
Think i've realised that it ain't goona be possible to write all blogs in as much detail as the beijing one so cutting them down a tad from here on in!
Shanghai was brill, very different from beijing, a lot more developed, all the sky scrapers and neon lights and even a few more westerners! Hit the Museum on the first day, impressive collections of coins, porcelain, art and bronze but not exactly gripping stuf. Didn't do much else that day except grab a bite and do some surfing on the web.. . oh and dare I forget whip killian's ass at table tennis, well thats not entirely true or fair , as it stands it's two games to nil and we got interupted in the next game by lights out (I'm winning it 5-3 too tho!)

Another highlight in Shanghai, especially for killian, was the pudong area where all the

sky scrapers are. We paid into the world financial centre which is the third tallest building in the world with the highest observation deck in the world. Class spot but not for someone suffering from vertigo! Had glass pannels in floor - very weird walking over them. We also went to an acrobatics show, amazing what people can do with their bodies!

For our last day in shanghai we visited a place an hour away called Zhujiajao, beautiful canal town well worth the visit just for it's chinese gardens. Had a lovely relaxing day there just strolling around and found a little cafe called 'bum cafe' where we sat in the most comfortable chairs overlooking the canal with the best coffees we had since home, sweet.

Next stop Xi'an!
