FRIDAY, JANUARY 20 SEA DAY
We slept in til 7am. And we also lost an hour of sleep because of the time change. We had breakfast in the Versailles Restaurant. Oatmeal. I ordered almonds, so they had to get that from another restaurant, and it arrived as I had finished my oatmeal.
Again it was another relaxing day. I did some cross stitching. Glenn read some books. We would meet new people as we stood in line or waiting.
It was a rainey day. I had gone up by the pool for lunch time, to watch the NCL crew set up the big bar-b-que pit to grill hamburgers out. Then it started a down pour. People that were laying out, came under cover. They cancelled the hamburger. I took a good afternoon nap. Glenn did was walking or bicycle riding in the spa/gym. Glenn talked with Peter, our lecturer, while they were riding bicyles.
For dinner, we met up with Julian and wife Leslie, the lawyer that can really talk. We had a good dinner. But man, can he talk. I had steak. Glenn had lamb. We wanted to go to the show, so we told the waiter to make sure he served us quickly.
At the show, it was the production staff, with singing and dancing. Very good. And there was 1 Chinese lady that was doing some gymnastic moves as twisting and moving her legs on top of her head. There was another act where the couple (man and women), were swinging from a rope, much like the circus dulay. Very good show.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 21
I woke up at 12:30am, just as President-elect, was walking down the steps to the capital building to take the 'oath of office'. I woke Glenn up and we watch the program for about 1 hour. Then I woke up again at 5am, when the TV screen showed President Trump and wife walking down Pennsylvania Avenue. The NCL Star started broadcasting on FOX News.
I got up and out of the room without waking up Glenn. I left him a note. I went to the bar area of O'Shananna. The TV screen was on and subtitles. I got my cross stitch out and started working on my project. I would look occasionally at the screen. At this point they were in the middle of the parade. I think I saw Kilgore Rangeretts. Glenn finally came down around 8am. We had breakfast there. Oatmeal and fried eggs. We checked at the front desk about several things, ran into Donna and Steve from Alabama, and then made our way to the 10am lecture with Peter.
At 1pm, we went to the Stardust Theatre to watch the 2002 movie "The Quiet American" staring Michael Kane, about an English Journalist in Vietnam during the 1955 years with the conflict of the French and Vietnam/Indochina. Very good movie. Very good.
We have been watching some of the Australian Open, as we sail to Australia.
For the evening meal, we decided to go to the other restaurant. As we were eating, we started visiting with a 60+ couple at the next table. Felix and Ingrid were their names. They are from Swizerland and speak Swiss German. Very interesting people. When they were in the 20's, they took 2 years off and traveled to South America and Central America. They had been to Bolivia, and also Guatemala. They loved Panajachel! Very sweet people and they were impressed that we lived in Bolivia and also Guatemala. Of course on their travels, they were in Rio, went to Iguassu Falls, Machu Picchu and other key locations in South America.
Glenn and I both went to the 7:30pm showing where there was a hypnotist. Interesting. We then watched 30 minutes of 2 couples playing Roulette in the Casino. Just watched.
