We arrived in Hanoi at 430 am and went to the APT hotel where we slept a few more hours, showered, ate breakfast and then departed for Halong Bay. Halong Bay is a UNESCO world heritage site with over 2000 small islands that are called karsts. Also, it is supposed to be an amazing site with old juncks sailing through the bay. We went kayaking through the inlets and hiked through some amazing caves, some just discovered less than 20 years ago. Unfortunately the beautiful juncks were few and far between.
