Perfumed River
Linda sticking her head into shot of fishermen. While in Vietnam we took a trip up the perfumed river, which by the way smells like any other river. The trip itself was mainly by boat, rowed by tough ladies wearing what seems to be their sunday best. They have amazing endurance as the trip takes a couple of hours in each direction. They are no shrinking violets either as we discovered when we were brought to the river bank to be assigned to a boat. These ladies elbowed, jostled, trampled, and kicked one another to try and get a tourist or tourists for their boat. Even in the boat you were not safe as boats tried to push each other aside to get closer to their prey, i.e. the tourists. We had to keep our hands well inside as other boats came over the side of ours. Given the fact that they were made of metal it would have been no fun to have trapped a hand.

Perfumed River
Boats on Perfumed River funny if you were not its intended target. One of our group was walking along and a streetseller tapped him on the shoulder. As he turned around she threw one of the conical straw hats at him. Of course, he instinctively caught it. At which point she began to shout, 'you buy, you buy'. He threw it back at her but I wonder how many people were too embarrassed and just bought one.
