Sadly, we had to leave Dalat and see what our next destination of Nha Trang had to offer.
Lys, at our hotel, booked our bus tickets to Nha Trang. The coach was comfortable and we had the usual free bottles of water and wet wipes handed round. None of us were particularly looking forward to the journey, but it actually turned out to be really good. We went east towards Nha Trang on the new road, which led us through the most beautiful scenery we have seen so far. We wound our way down many many mountains, with a great view below and you could see for miles until the mountains stopped in the far distance. There were so many waterfalls on the way which made it even more spectacular, it was just a shame we were on a coach and couldnt ask the driver to stop so we could take some photos.
Whilst in Nha Trang we spent our time soaking up the sun and spending time in the clear blue water. Mum and I hired an inflatable tyre and took it in to the sea and took it in turns to splash around inside.
Phil and
I spent a day at the mud baths and natural hot springs whilst mum and Peter took to the market to change some T-shirts they had bought.
The mud bath was so much fun, I wish we could have that kind of thing in England. We paid about £10 for the both of us with unlimited use of the mud bath, hot spring, swimming pool and sun beds.
We headed to the hot mud first of all, taking a cold shower and then climbed in to a big wooden tub big enough for the both of us. It then got filled up with hot mud, and we splashed around for 20 minutes (the recommended time) taking it in turns to rub mud onto each others faces and going under to see what it was like. After a shower we went and got in to a jaccuzzi type tub and it was filled up with hot spring water, only trouble was the water was around 38 degrees and far far too hot to be sitting in when its that hot outside as well. We only managed about 10 minutes before we jumped out and walked down to the lounge
chairs and the pool. I thought the pool would be refreshing but that turned out to be 38 degrees as well, so I resigned myself to sunbathing for an hour and then went for a full body massage.
The next day we went to Vinpearl Land a huge waterpark with a smaller theme park which is reached by taking the worlds longest oversea cable car to an island just opposite the mainland. Mum and I made the most of the water and splashed around the lazy river which seemed to last forever and went through a really dark tunnel, then we all went to the theme park and had a go on some rides, the arcade games inside and the bumper cars. Then back to the waterpark so I could whizz down some slides, we were all absolutely shattered by the time we got back to the hotel!
We had to take the overnight sleeper train the next day to Hoi An, we couldnt get on a soft sleeper so had to pick the cheaper and less comfortable hard sleeper. The train didnt leave until 11pm so we walked around the town and went to the beach to
soak up some more sun. The train was of course delayed and the best were true to their name and hard! But a kind of good sleep was managed by all, mum and Peter on the bottom bunks, Phil and I in the middle and a Vietnamese mother and daughter on the top who kindly decided to leave their lights on all night 😊
